Pakenham horse racing tips

Race 1. (17:15) Brady’s Carpet Court Maiden (1000m)

#11 – Phere Her @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Graeme Begg lines up the three-year-old filly that showed ability during her first campaign in town.

The daughter of Exosphere ran second at Cranbourne before being tested against quality opposition at Moonee Valley and Caulfield.

She isn’t up to that level but she is good enough to test them here.

Race 2. (17:45) Live Racing Sportsbet App Maiden (1200m)

#5 – Jeehaan @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Jeehan has had the benefit of two race day starts, which resulted in two placings. The Lindsay Park-trained filly ran third on debut at Benalla before running second at Sale.

Her run at Sale was a good effort behind Sahara Song and she will get a good run throughout from barrier two for this race.

The $4 is worth taking as the odds should firm.

Race 3. (18:15) Hanson Maiden Plate (1600m)

#8 – Lady Kermadec @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The last two starts from Lady Kermadec gives us confidence that she will be winning shortly.

She finished second at Wodonga two starts back before finishing third at Kyneton. She didn’t push the winner close on that occasion, but rising to the mile looks ideal.

Punters are getting each-way odds and her odds could firm throughout the week.

Race 4. (18:45) De Bortoli Wines Maiden Plate (1400m)

#7 – Fixated @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fixated has been tough for punters to catch but punters should stick with him for one more run.

The Lindsay Park-trained three-year-old owns five placings from seven starts and the son of Hinchinbrook is a consistent type.

His odds of $3.90 haven’t budged since markets opened and punters should lock in that price before it drops.

Race 5. (19:15) Superior Food Services C1 Handicap (1400m)

#9 – Toffee Doll @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Toffee Doll represents value at $5 and she is coming off a tidy effort for third at Echuca. The four-year-old hasn’t done much wrong throughout her career, which includes a win and two placings.

She is still maturing and that was a good sign fresh up. Therefore, the $5 is good shopping for the daughter of Toorak Toff, which should score her second win soon.

Race 6. (21:45) Drouin Community Bank C1 Handicap (1600m)

#8 – Bomber’s Kiss @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Ellerton/Zahra-trained three-year-old was too good for his opposition at Tatura and he could go back-to-back.

It was a terrific performance to score by five lengths and it could be a sign of things to come. He is a speedy son of Smart Missile that has a turn-of-foot, and that will win him many races.

$3.50 is better than we expected and he should firm into around $2.60 come start time.

Race 7. (22:15) Pakenham Mazda BM70 (1400m)

#13 – Ears The Barman @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Phillip Stokes-trained four-year-old is a two-time winner from nine starts and he drops in grade following his run at Flemington.

He wasn’t on the same level as that opposition, but dropping to an easier level should put him right in contention here.

Drawing barrier eight should give him a nice position in the field, so stick with him.

Race 8. (22:45) Sportsbet Podcast BM64 (1200m)

#7 – Fundraiser @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fundraiser is a talented type that scored a fresh up win last season, so that bodes well for this fresh up run.

The four-year-old gelding then took on much harder opposition at Sandown and Flemington, but he is suited to this level and his form should improve.

He won on this track in March and anything close to that effort would be good enough.
