Queensland Oaks Form Guide & Tips
1. Duais (Best Bet – $5.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
Duais is the quality runner of this field and we’re surprised she’s not shorter with bookmakers. The filly finished second behind Hungry Heart in the Australian Oaks, which is the best form guide for this race.
She hasn’t raced since April, but the Adrian Knox winner has class on her side and with Hugh Bowman riding, we love her chances at $5.50.
2. Media Award ($9.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
Media Award has rattled off three consecutive wins and the latest came at Morphettville in the Australasian Oaks.
The daughter of Shamus Award was too good for a quality field and that’s another strong form guide for this contes.
We wouldn’t be leaving her out of calculations.
3. Bargain ($4.80) Bet @ Sportsbet
The Mark Newnham-trained filly enters as the favourite after running second behind Only Words in The Roses.
It was a solid effort and the daughter of Ocean Park has a bright future. She isn’t in our top selections, but the ability is there and she enters trifecta and first-four calculations.
We expect her odds to drift a touch.
4. Only Words ($8) Bet @ Sportsbet
Only Words did enough to win a main lead-up race and that form can’t be overlooked. She took over on the turn and kicked away for the win, so she shouldn’t be far.
There is more depth to this race, but she’s trained by Chris Waller and Craig Williams rides, so keep her safe.
5. Easifar ($15) Bet @ Sportsbet
Easifer is another Waller-trained filly that hit the line well enough last start. She scored a tough win three back, but we don’t know if she’s a Queensland Oaks type.
We would need to see a sizable betting push on race day.
6. Grace and Harmony (Best Each Way – $5.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
Adding to Waller’s plethora of runners is Grace and Harmony, which is better than what she showed last time out.
The three-year-old filly by Sebring didn’t get much luck after drawing wide, so barrier three should be ideal.
James McDonald rides and punters get value odds.
7. Good Soize ($26) Bet @ Sportsbet
She didn’t fire last start at Doomben and we don’t think she’ll turn that performance around in time.
The daughter of Adelaide is bred to see out this distance, but she needs to find a closer position from the inside barrier to have any chance.
Capable but she’s not entering our selections.
8. Charms Star ($8.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
The Waller-trained filly comes off three consecutive placings and the former Kiwi didn’t do much wrong last time out.
She ran third in The Roses, which should be a good form guide and her form across the Tasman included a second in the New Zealand Oaks.
She must be considered.
9. Rebel Rama ($27) Bet @ Sportsbet
She owns two wins from her last three starts but they haven’t come against this level of opposition.
We would prefer to see her race in something easier, so the $27 is a touch short for our liking.
10. Signora Nera (Best Roughie – $16) Bet @ Sportsbet
Signora Nera is a daughter of Sweynesse that owns only two wins, but she is capable of springing an upset.
She comes off some solid efforts and was fifth in a similar race last start, so she can’t be overlooked at the big odds.
11. Splendiferous ($27) Bet @ Sportsbet
She scored three consecutive wins before running down the track in The Roses. It wasn’t a good performance and she’s unlikely to bounce back.
Barrier two is ideal and she will likely head forward, but this race should be too tough.
12. Yatton ($101) Bet @ Sportsbet
A winner fresh up but she’s looking for something much easier. Unlikely to figure in the finish.
13. Ruru ($101) Bet @ Sportsbet
Good enough to score back-to-back wins in easy company. Harder here and her recent form is a good form guide.
14. Mishani Whisper ($251) Bet @ Sportsbet
Huge odds available and rightfully so. Yet to win from four starts so put a line through her chances.
