2018 Queensland Oaks Form Guide & Tips
Aloisia ($6.50) – BET NOW
She’s a classy filly but this season hasn’t been great for the Ciaron Maher-trained runner.
The three-time winner hasn’t been able to win from five starts and although she meets an easier field here, we would need to see an improved result to confidently back her.
Sheezdashing ($8.50) – BET NOW
Produced a big performance for second in the South Australian Oaks last start and that form should be good for this.
She has won only one of her 12 starts and that’s the concern, but she is better over the staying distances and she has drawn to get every advantage from barrier three.
Each way chance in this.
Youngstar (Best Bet – $2.90) – BET NOW
Youngstar looks like a rising star in the staying ranks and she deserves to be well-backed here.
The Chris Waller-trained runner has won her last three starts, including a one-length win on this track last start and the form out of that race should stack up nicely.
Bred to be good over long distances, this looks her race to lose.
Savacool ($7) – BET NOW
Strong money has come for the Waller-trained runner which finished 2.5 lengths behind Sopressa at Morphettville last start.
There was good money on her last start and punters have confident backed her again at $7.50 after opening at $9.
Likely to be in the thick of the finish.
Another Dollar (Best Each Way – $5) – BET NOW
Second behind Youngstar last start and her breeding suggests that the 2200m is going to be right at her peak.
Another Waller-trained filly, Another Dollar has yet to finish outside of the first three and we can see that form continuing here.
She’ll get every chance from barrier two so include in your each way selections.
Tinkermosa (Best Roughie – $17) – BET NOW
Trainer John Sargent knows how to train Oaks winners and Tinkermosa brings in solid each-way claims.
The filly by Alamosa finished second at Warwick Farm last start and although she was beaten by a half-length, the rise in distance is only going to help her chances.
Jeff Lloyd rides which is a big positive.
Highway ($41) – BET NOW
Three lengths behind Youngstar last start and she has outside claims at the odds.
Will likely need to find a few lengths to win but we wouldn’t be surprised to see her fighting out a top-five finish.
Joyfilly Ours ($46) – BET NOW
Former New Zealand filly which hasn’t shown her best form in Australia.
Now in the Waterhouse/Bott stable, the three-year-old is drifting in the market and we can’t see her winning this based on exposed form on this side of the Tasman.
Play That Song ($26) – BET NOW
Two-time winner for Mike Moroney which disappointed in The Roses last start but has room for improvement.
Drawing barrier 15 shouldn’t matter over this distance and she has upset claims at nice odds.
Coral Coast ($23) – BET NOW
Improving with every start this campaign, which included a fourth behind Youngstar.
Looks in fit condition for the Oaks and Mark Zahra is riding in great form this season.
Not the worst so include here.
Terra Sancta ($21) – BET NOW
Needed to win her last two starts to get into the Queensland Oaks and she did just that.
Punters should respect the New Zealand form and she still has more improvement to come.
Outside chance at $18.
Impulsive ($91) – BET NOW
Handy winner at Gold Coast last start but she would need to find a few lengths to win this.
The odds are spot on here.
Miss Shanti ($46) – BET NOW
Finished second at Hawkesbury last start but she would be struggling to beat most of these.
Gets the inside draw and a top-10 finish would be considered a success.
Delany’s Desire ($126) – BET NOW
Looks held at the triple figure odds won’t shorten.
Protest ($101) – BET NOW
Has been beaten by some average types this season and that form isn’t going to cut it against this field.
Look for others.
She’s Reliable ($46) – BET NOW
Impressive win at Gold Coast last start and she has more improvement to come.
Not easy here but we wouldn’t be shocked if she won.
