Railway Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Belclare (Best Each Way – $4.60)
The former Kiwi has been excellent since arriving in Australia, winning her last two starts at Randwick and Rosehill.
She is a 13-time winner overall, and although racing at Ascot for the first time is a worry, punters get value odds.
(2) Bustler ($18.00)
His second placing last time out was solid enough, and he owns five wins from 15 starts at Ascot.
Barrier 10 should give him every chance in the run, and punters get value odds to snap up throughout the week.
(3) Casino Seventeen ($23.00)
He’s tough to completely rule out after beating many of these runners last time out, but there isn’t much confidence in markets.
Having William Pike in the saddle helps, so he could enter first four calculations with a good trip in transit.
(4) Democracy Manifest ($14.00)
He will get back in the run and rely on luck to get home. It’s not an easy race to get back and finish off, so we’re leaving him out of selections.
(5) Light Infantry Man (Best Bet – $3.80)
The favourite was impressive winning at Flemington last time out, which is the best form guide for this race.
He is a nice former European with plenty of upside, and he has every chance of beating this field with James McDonald riding.
We’re taking the odds before money comes for him.
(6) Magnificent Andy ($23.00)
He comes off back-to-back placings but he would need to find another gear to beat this field. The odds are a touch too short for our liking.
(7) Comfort Me ($27.00)
He was a good winner fresh up at Ascot but he didn’t get all favours last time out. He’s an eight-time winner but this might be beyond him.
(8) Let’s Galahvant ($67.00)
His efforts haven’t been great this season and we don’t see that changing at Group 1 level, hence the lengthening odds.
(9) Searchin’ Roc’s ($35.00)
A good winner fresh up before running fifth in three consecutive races, and she’s good enough to win her 10th race.
She enjoys racing at Ascot with three wins and getting in with 53.5kg helps her cause, so the odds are appealing.
(10) Socks Nation (Best Roughie – $15.00)
We were impressed with the effort of Socks Nation last time out at Flemington, and she’s good enough to figure in the finish.
She opened at $12.00 and has drifted since opening, but we’re not concerned.
(11) Mojo Rhythm ($41.00)
He scored an upset win last time out but we can’t see him repeating that effort. His opening odds have firmed but a top 10 finish would be a good result.
(12) Port Lockroy ($17.00)
Might have needed three runs back from a spell, and he could be a Group 1 winner in the waiting.
Only 2.1 lengths behind the winner in the Golden Eagle, and that form is excellent against this field. Can’t be left out at the price.
(13) Super Smink ($11.00)
A worthy first four inclusion and she would be at shorter odds had she not drawn barrier 18.
Gets in with only 53kg and she should be right in the mix with any amount of luck.
(14) Triple Mission ($71.00)
Not running well, hence the big odds. We can’t see his form improving enough to finish in the first half of the field.
(15) Trix of the Trade ($23.00)
A five-time winner at Ascot but he needs to turn around his recent form, which hasn’t been good.
This race looks too tough, so we’re prepared to give him out of selections.
(16) Zipaway ($9.00)
There was good early support after opening at $7.50 before drifting. Fourth behind Casino Seventeen last start and it has improvement to come.
An interesting runner, which could fit into first four picks.
(17) Yonga Lass ($31.00)
Nominated for an easier race on the card and that might be more up her alley. Chance if she runs but it would be a big effort.
(18) Aztec Ruler ($101.00)
Not running well and we’re not interested in the triple-figure odds.
(19) Diamond Scene ($31.00)
A two-time winner this prep but getting into the field could be her biggest challenge at this stage.
(20) Buckets Ridge ($81.00)
Average last start and he would need a miracle to get a run.
