Randwick horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:30) Agency Real Estate Fernhill Stakes (1600m)
#1 – Converge @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained two-year-old comes off a second placing at Rosehill and it was a tough race.
He finished 1.8 lengths behind the winner, which had the sit on him. The son of Frankel has shown good pace throughout his career and we’re not surprised at the odds available on Saturday.
Tim Clark is a good tactical rider and he should have no problems finding the front from barrier five.
The $1.95 could shorten on race day, so take the odds available.
Race 2. (12:05) Bisley Workwear South Pacific (1400m)
#8 – Ellsberg @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old colt is talented at best and he comes off a campaign that featured two wins and three placings.
He has yet to miss a top three position and we don’t think that changes on Saturday. The son of Spills the Beans looked good winning a trial at Rosehill and carrying 53kg is a steal.
Ellsberg deserves to be favourite and the $3.20 could shorten on race day.
Race 3. (12:40) Polytrack Provincial Championships Final (1400m)
#7 – Great News @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The chances of Great News took a hit when she drew barrier 16, but the Kim Waugh-trained mare is the better runner in this field.
She owns five wins and five placings from 10 starts, so she is supremely consistent and her most recent placing came behind handicap-level runners.
She puts this field away with ease if she gets any amount of luck in running.
Race 4. (13:15) Heineken Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m)
#2 – Najmaty @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Najmaty couldn’t have been more impressive when winning at Caulfield and we like the look of that form.
The two-year-old filly scored by 2.8 lengths against a nice field and it backed up her debut win at Randwick by 1.3 lengths.
Getting James McDonald in the saddle is ideal and she should get a nice drag into the race from barrier four. That should be enough to see her cross the line first.
Race 6. (14:25) Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m)
#8 – September Run @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
It was a huge effort from September Run to finish fourth at The Valley last start and she was about the only runner to make ground from the back.
The Chris Waller-trained filly has yet to fire from three starts at Randwick, but she is more mature now and that form could turn around.
Getting back to her own age-group is ideal and although the inside draw isn’t, Craig Williams should extricate her off the inside and flash home late.
Race 10. (17:10) Tab Sapphire Stakes (1200m)
#3 – Entriviere @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Kiwi superstar has been given the visitors barrier draw but she could be too good for this field on Saturday.
She comes off three consecutive wins across the Tasman and she has form in all track conditions. She is also unbeaten over four starts at this distance, but she needs luck.
Barrier 16 over 1200m isn’t easy, so James McDonald will need to settle wide and hope for some cover around the turn.
