Randwick horse racing tips

Race 1. (11:55) Highway Handicap C3 (1200m)

#12 – Ceasefire @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ceasefire is unbeaten after two starts and he could be a nice type for the future. The three-year-old won by 6.3 lengths on debut before winning by 1.8 lengths at Muswellbrook.

The Paul Messara-trained gelding has handled all conditions to date and although taking on a harder field, he looks set to handle it.

$3.30 is a good price and he could start around $2.40.

Race 2. (12:35) Mostyn Copper Carr Stakes (1400m)

#2 – Kiku @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kiku comes off three consecutive wins and she picked up The Irishman with ease at Randwick two weeks ago.

The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old has come of age this season and she is unbeaten in two starts at this distance. Her form reads well at Randwick and punters should be confident.

The Carbine Club is typically a good form guide, so put Kiku on top.

Race 3. (13:10) ACY Securities Frank Packer Plate (2000m)

#1 – Lion’s Roar @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lion’s Roar has been right behind the best age-group stars in Australia and he deserves another win on Saturday.

The three-year-old gelding is a four-time winner that got the better of Mo’unga three back. He has since finishing close behind Mo’unga and Explosive Jack, so it’s red-hot form.

$1.95 is well worth taking and he’s the best runner in this race.

Race 4. (13:45) Sharp Extensive JRA Plate (2000m)

#1 – Zaaki @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Zaaki is finding it tough to win but it was hard not to like his effort in the Doncaster Handicap two weeks ago.

The imported runner got too far back in the run before making a huge run in the straight. It was a great effort first-up in Australia and we’re not surprised at the short odds on Saturday.

He shouldn’t take long to win his first race down under.

Race 5. (14:20) Tab Hall Mark Stakes (1200m)

#8 – Eleven Eleven @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Gregory Hickman-trained four-year-old has yet to fire on this track, but he is a classy type at best.

He scored three consecutive wins before running sixth at Randwick behind Nature Strip. He was outclassed in that event but dropping in grade should help.

Barrier 10 won’t matter as he likes to drop back and hit the line strongly.

Race 8. (16:15) Yarraman Park BM100 (1400m)

#9 – Starspangled Rodeo @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Bjorn Baker-trained six-year-old looked good when winning at Rosehill last start and he should be competitive in this company.

He is a former Kiwi that owns six wins and seven placings from 17 starts, so he has been around the mark throughout his career.

55.5kg on his back is ideal and punters should expect another top effort.

Race 9. (16:55) Fujitsu General Sprint BM88 (1200m)

#2 – Lost and Running @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lost and Running couldn’t keep his unbeaten record at Canterbury last start but the conditions weren’t ideal.

The four-year-old son of Per Incanto finished a nose behind the winner in tough conditions and we think he can get back to his best form.

Drawing the inside barrier is ideal and James McDonald takes the ride. $3.50 is a good price for a runner that has paid much less in the past.
