Randwick horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:20) Tab Supports Jockeys Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Uncorked @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Uncorked didn’t do much wrong when second at Newcastle on debut behind Russian Conquest, which is a good form guide.
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained two-year-old filly has since won a trial by a half-length at Canterbury, so punters should be confident.
$2.45 is a fair price.
Race 2. (13:00) ATC Thanks John Williams BM72 (1400m)
#5 – Starman @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We love what Starman has produced so far, including a last-start win at Rosehill. The Chris Waller-trained gelding is fit and ready to produce the goods again.
He has been around some smart types throughout his career and having James McDonald in the saddle is ideal.
Race 3. (13:40) Tab Highway Handicap C2 (1400m)
#1 – Optimo @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Optimo has drawn very wide, but he gets Hugh Bowman in the saddle and he could go close with luck.
The four-year-old gelding comes off a second placing at Randwick behind Socialist, which should be a good form guide.
Punters get value odds because of the wide draw, so consider.
Race 4. (14:15) Midway BM72 (1200m)
#2 – Prince Invincible @ $12 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Prince Invincible already owns three wins this preparation and we like his chances of winning again.
The Gary Moore-trained four-year-old has missed a win or placing only once from five attempts at the distance, which is a good form guide.
Tim Clark rides and he’s a good judge of pace.
Race 5. (14:50) Precise Air BM88 (2000m)
#3 – Huetor @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Huetor is unbeaten after two starts this preparation and he showed excellent fight last time out.
The five-year-old gelding kicked on strongly to win last time out at Rosehill, which is an ideal form guide for this race.
Punters get lovely each-way odds.
Race 6. (15:25) UNSW BM78 (1400m)
#3 – Saigon @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Saigon comes off a second placing at Rosehill behind Shikonka, which is an ideal form guide.
The five-year-old mare owns a win at Randwick and having McDonald in the saddle could see her return to her best form.
Conditions suit and the $6 is worth taking.
Race 7. (16:00) Chandon Garden Spritz BM78 (1600m)
#8 – Francisco Guardi @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Punters have been burned by Francisco Guardi, but the imported runner could score an overdue win.
The four-year-old son of Frankel finished a nose behind the winner fresh up and we expect that form to stack up well.
Taking odds-on isn’t easy, but he should be the best horse in the race.
Race 8. (16:40) ACY Securities Handicap (1400m)
#9 – Bigboyroy @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Bigboyroy comes off three consecutive placings and he deserves a winning turn. The son of Dissident owns four wins and 16 placings from 26 starts, so he’s consistent.
He runs some of his best races at Randwick and with only 54kg and McDonald riding, he doesn’t get an easier chance.
We expect his odds to firm on race day.
Race 9. (17:20) Fujitsu General BM88 (1200m)
#8 – Tycoonist @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Tycoonist went close at Rosehill last time out and losing by a nose to Mr Mosiac is a good form line.
The Waller-trained son of Written Tycoon owns two placings from two starts at Randwick, so he’s nearing a big win.
Carrying only 55.5kg could be enough to get the job done.
Race 10. (17:55) Schweppes Sprint BM78 (1000m)
#5 – Easy Single @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Easy Single scored three consecutive wins in Melbourne and his recent form is good enough to win in Sydney.
The Maher/Eustace-trained gelding was close behind the winner at Ballarat and he gets every chance here from barrier four.
Punters get odds worth taking in the final race.
