Randwick horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:55) Widden Stakes (1100m)

#1 – Away Game @ $2.25 – Bet Now

Away Game won the Magic Millions last start and she could measure up to the Sydney runners here.

The Maher-Eustace-trained daughter of Snitzel was miles too good for the field at Gold Coast. She backed up an easy win at Doomben and her only defeat came behind Hanseatic, which looks promising.

Drawn to get a good run throughout and we’re seeing most of the early money coming her way.

Race 2. (13:30) Iron Jack Canonbury Stakes (1100m)

#1 – Global Quest @ $2.40 – Bet Now

Global Quest looks an early hope for the Golden Slipper and he has been well-supported in early markets.

The Chris Waller-trained colt scored by a length on debut at Group 3 level and he has been primed with two quiet trials since.

Hugh Bowman rides and he should get a sweet trip throughout.

Race 3. (14:05) Tab Highway Plate (1500m)

#9 – Mo’s Glory – Bet Now

Form is with Mo’s Glory, which has won her last two starts at Taree and Scone.

The Rodney Northam-trained mare will need to do work from the wide barrier, but having Glen Boss in the saddle negates that.

She has been in work for seven starts already this campaign so she’s not lacking race fitness.

Race 4. (14:40) 50 Years ATC Members BM88 (1500m)

#5 – Romani Girl @ $3.30 – Bet Now

Romani Girl is having her first start since running fourth at Randwick last December.

The freshen up should do her plenty of good and she typically runs well in a fresh state. She has had three fresh runs for a win and two placings.

The small field will make this a tactical race and she’s more than capable of picking them up late in the run.

Race 5. (15:15) Sky Racing Active BM70 (1400m)

#6 – My Benalla – Bet Now

Sue Grills has a nice type on her hands with My Benella, which has won three of his four career starts.

The four-year-old by Animal Kingdom scored by four lengths at Muswellbrook last start. He faces a steep rise in class for this run, but he needs to be tested sooner rather than later.

He has shown good speed and he is worth backing in what should be a tight contest.

Race 6. (15:50) Schweppes BM78 (2000m)

#12 – She’s Ideel @ $4.40 – Bet Now

She’s Ideel is also nominated for Canterbury on Friday, but we’re expecting her to line up here.

Trained by Bjorn Baker, the last-start winner drops right down to 52kg with Rachel King in the saddle and that’s a big bonus.

She scored by 3.8 lengths at Canterbury last time out and she deserves her chance to prove herself against city-level opposition.

Punters are getting value odds.

Race 7. (16:30) Expressway Stakes (1200m)

#5 – Alizee @ $2.25 – Bet Now

A noted fresh-up performer, Alizee looks a good bet in the feature race of the day.

The James Cummings-trained mare has won four of her five fresh up starts, which is a tough record to overlook.

She comes into this race having finished fourth behind Nature Strip at Flemington and she has had two solid trials to prepare.

She could start odds-on, so take the value on offer.

Race 8. (17:10) Ranvet BM78 (1400m)

#12 – Yonkers @ $8 – Bet Now

Former import Yonkers made a good impression when winning at Gosford last October. He could make a winning return here and punters are getting good odds.

Trained by Chris Waller, the four-year-old gets right down in weight to 53kg and that could be the winning of the race.

Watch for any market moves with this runner.

Race 9. (17:50) Hyland Race Colours BM88 (1200m)

#12 – Lashes @ $4.20 – Bet Now

Lashes has gone to another level this season with back-to-back quality wins.

The Matthew Smith-trained mare scored at Randwick by 2.8 lengths before winning at Rosehill by two lengths.

She handles all conditions and running with only 54.5kg on her back brings her right into contention here.

$4.20 is a fair price.
