Randwick Guineas Form Guide & Tips
1. Aegon (Best Bet – $2.25) Bet @ Sportsbet
The Kiwi superstar is unbeaten after five career starts and he was exceptional winning the Hobartville last time out.
He closed off brilliantly and the son of Sacred Falls looks to have a bright future. Hugh Bowman sticks with him and punters are getting a value price.
2. King’s Legacy ($26) Bet @ Sportsbet
King’s Legacy hasn’t come of age after showing plenty of promise early on. He didn’t fire when sixth last start and his form would need to improve to take out this contest.
3. North Pacific ($8) Bet @ Sportsbet
North Pacific hasn’t been a friend to punters who have taken short odds over his last few runs.
The Hawkes-trained colt finished second and 1.8 lengths behind Aegon last start, so he ran in the best form race.
James McDonald rides and we wouldn’t be leaving him out.
4. Prime Star ($15) Bet @ Sportsbet
A consistent type that has rattled off five consecutive placings. He has faced tough opposition but he seemingly finds one better.
$15 is a fair price and he could be a first-four player, but he’s unlikely to win.
5. Peltzer ($8) Bet @ Sportsbet
A bomb-proof colt that continues to give it his all. He comes off a solid fourth after not getting much luck at Rosehill.
The son of So You Think returns to Randwick where he owns an unbeaten record. He has won five from five at Randwick, which is an incredible record.
Include Peltzer in trifecta options.
6. Lion’s Roar ($18) Bet @ Sportsbet
Lion’s Roar looked good at the end of last campaign but he might need a few runs to get going this time in.
The rise in distance suits but he would need to produce a big effort to beat this quality field.
7. Mo’unga (Best Each Way – $6.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
Mo’unga has changed stables but he’s a smart colt that should be fighting out the finish.
He comes off a third placing at Flemington behind Tagaloa and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely.
Barrier two is ideal and punters get each-way odds.
8. The Elanora (Best Roughie – $26) Bet @ Sportsbet
Value is with The Elanora, which did enough when seventh against similar opposition last time out.
The Waller-trained colt owns four wins from seven starts and punters should enjoy the double-figure value odds.
Money has come after opening at $31, so expect a solid effort.
9. Bucharest ($71) Bet @ Sportsbet
Big odds available for a runner that has shown talent in the past. However, we would prefer to see him in something easier.
10. Marsannay ($41) Bet @ Sportsbet
Coming off a win at Randwick is Marsannay, which is likely to push forward and set them up in front.
The inside draw helps his cause and if jockey Rachel King tries to clear them out, it could hold on for a solid finish.
11. Here To Shock ($101) Bet @ Sportsbet
Triple figure odds on offer and it would be living up to his name. A win here would be a huge shock and we can’t see it happening.
Stranger things have happened but we wouldn’t have him in our selections.
12. Wheelhouse ($51) Bet @ Sportsbet
Not the worst selection at big odds and the son of Pierro looked the goods when scoring at Randwick two starts back.
Punters should expect him to settle back and hit the line with power. Chance at $51.
13. Harmony Rose ($14) Bet @ Sportsbet
The only filly in the field and she has looked good winning three from four starts. Much harder here and she is unlikely to go close.
The odds are a touch short of value.
