Randwick horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:20) Fujitsu General Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Verne @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Verne is a two-year-old colt that comes off a win at Warwick Farm and he’s capable of going back-to-back.
The Annabel Neasham-trained son of Snitzel looks to have a bright future and although barrier eight isn’t ideal, he could sit behind the pace and sprint late.
His opening odds of $5 have firmed and that’s a good sign.
Race 2. (11:55) Tab Highway C3 Plate (1500m)
#11 – Chavret @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chavret draws barrier 17, but the four-year-old comes off back-to-back wins and that form can’t be discounted.
The Paul Messara-trained daughter of Zoustar scored at Scone two back before scoring by a length last time out at Gunnedah.
Punters get lovely odds and we’re sticking with her in an even field.
Race 3. (12:30) City Tallersalls Club BM78 (1000m)
#11 – Ice in Vancouver @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ice in Vancouver owns three wins from four starts and although yet to face this level of opposition, he is a nice type in the making.
The three-year-old son of Vancouver scored by 3.8 lengths at Tamworth in April and he has been given time to settle and he should come back stronger.
2kg comes off his back and the light weight is ideal.
Race 4. (13:05) 50 Year and Life Members BM78 (1200m)
#7 – Gravina @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Gravina destroyed them by five lengths at Randwick last start and he’s capable of doubling down on that effort.
The three-year-old son of Sebring put away a tidy field with ease and having Reece Jones taking 3kg off his back only adds to his appeal.
Barrier two is ideal and $2.10 could shorten on race day.
Race 5. (13:40) Drinkwise BM78 (1600m)
#5 – La Chevalee @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Maher/Eustace-trained four-year-old is knocking on the door after consecutive second placings in Warrnambool and Sandown.
She comes to Sydney with good form and the daughter of Written Tycoon is capable of winning her fourth career win.
Barrier five suits and punters get fair odds.
Race 6. (14:20) Heineken Racing to Win Handicap (1600m)
#3 – Royal Celebration @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Royal Celebration has been facing tough fields of late and he should find this easier. He finished second at Hawkesbury before finishing second behind Lina’s Hero at Randwick.
It’s strong form for this level of racing and although struggling to win races, he hasn’t been letting each-way punters down.
Punters get value odds worth taking.
Race 7. (15:00) Bob Charley AO Stakes (1100m)
#7 – Wandabaa @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Wandabaa is another runner threatening to win a race after finishing second behind Adelong last time out at Randwick.
The four-year-old mare owns three placings this preparation and she has yet to finish outside the placings in four starts at Randwick.
54kg is ideal and we wouldn’t turn down the $4.60.
Race 8. (15:40) ACY Securities BM94 (1300m)
#9 – Irish Songs @ $14 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Kurt Goldman lines up the five-year-old gelding that comes off a third placing at Flemington and that form should stack up nicely.
The son of Shamus Award gets in with a lovely weight of 53kg and bookmakers have trimmed his odds considerably. He opened at $23 and has shortened to $14, which is a sizable move.
Expect a solid run at this level.
Race 9. (16:20) Precise Air BM78 (1400m)
#10 – Blondeau @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old is talented at best and although beaten at an odds-on quote last start, he didn’t do much wrong.
He hit the line well enough for third at Rosehill and his 3.3-length win at Gosford prior was terrific. If he brings that form to the table, the $3.30 will look silly.
Expect money to come for him late in the piece.
