Randwick horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (12:50) Heineken Maiden Handicap (1100m)
#5 – Verne @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Verne has had plenty of trials experience and after posting a win and three placings, he looks ready to make a winning debut.
The Annabel Neasham-trained colt comes off a trial placing at Randwick and most of the early money has come for the son of Snitzel.
Punters should expect a top debut run.
Race 2. (13:25) Ranvet BM72 (1400m)
#3 – Lillium @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lillium is always a winning chance and her effort to score at Kembla Grange two back was a nice effort.
The five-year-old mare owns two wins from five starts and although only fourth at Warwick Farm last start, she was under a length from the winner.
Dropping in weight and jumping from barrier two helps, so expect a good effort.
Race 3. (14:00) Happy Birthday Steve Meyn BM64 (1100m)
#5 – Imposing Beau @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Imposing Beau did the job impressively on debut at Hawkesbury and he has every chance of remaining unbeaten.
The three-year-old son of Brazen Beau gets the advantage of the inside draw and we’re surprised at the odds. We thought he would open much shorter in the betting than $5.50, but punters have come steadily for him since markets opened.
The $4.40 quote is still worth taking as he could start much shorter on race day.
Race 4. (14:35) PKF Sydney BM72 (1550m)
#4 – Bethencourt @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Bethencourt is classy at best and the four-year-old gelding didn’t completely handle the heavy surface last time out.
The son of Puissance de Lune is a two-time winner from five starts that is unbeaten second-up, which bodes well for Wednesday’s run.
$4 is a value price with James McDonald in the saddle and we expect a quality ride off the inside barrier. Bethencourt should be the hardest to beat and punters get value odds.
Race 5. (15:10) Tab BM68 (1550m)
#4 – Green Flash @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Chris Waller-trained colt chased gamely behind Grace and Harmony last start, and we expect that form to stack up nicely his season.
He finished only 1.3 lengths behind the winner after getting quite far back in the run. He found a good turn-of-foot and that is a good sign.
It’s another quality ride for James McDonald and he jumps off the inside draw again, so he won’t have to do much work in the run.
Race 6. (15:45) Vinery Stud BM72 (1300m)
#10 – Katalin @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Katalin started her career in fine form with back-to-back wins before taking on tough opposition in Melbourne.
The James Cummings-trained four-year-old finished last at Flemington, but she has been given plenty of time to bounce back and her trial form has been solid.
She placed in two trials at Hawkesbury and Randwick, so she looks ready to fire and it could pay to watch late betting moves.
Race 7. (16:20) Blue Point @ Darley BM72 (1100m)
#15 – Viscacha @ $9.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Viscacha comes off a close win at Kembla Grange and punters get value odds for a repeat.
The Cummings-trained three-year-old has figured in the finish in five of her seven career starts and punters love her consistency.
Getting close to double-figure odds is ideal and having Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle doesn’t hurt either.
