Randwick horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:30) Harrolds Victory Vein Plate (1000m)
#5 – Gravina – Bet Now
It’s always tough to line up the debutantes but it’s hard to look past the Cummings/Bowman combination.
The two-year-old colt by Sebring has the breeding to suggest that he’s going to fire here and the booking of Bowman is key.
He has looked good in preparation for this and we’re expecting good money to come his way on race day.
Race 2. (13:05) Task Retail Technology BM78 (2000m)
#2 – Humbolt Current – Bet Now
The Chris Waller-trained import is running out of chances to win a race but we’re prepared to give it one more.
He had every chance to win last time out when running third but he continues to battle away and that’s good to see.
This field isn’t any harder than what he has faced to date and it’s only a matter of time before he wins down under.
Race 3. (13:40) TAB Highway Handicap (1100m)
#2 – Burning Crown – Bet Now
Burning Crown doesn’t win all that often but his consistency is good and he should be able to run close to the pace.
The Sue Grills-trained four-year-old has placed in seven of his last eight starts and although finding it tough to win, he must be considered in a race like this.
He just needs some luck from barrier 13 but Tim Clark rides so expect him to push forward from the wide barrier and kick strongly.
Race 4. (14:15) Reginald Allen Quality (1400m)
#2 – Mayaaseh – Bet Now
Mayaaseh was beaten last start but certainly not disgraced in what was a tough race.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained runner was a winner at her two prior starts and that form should hold up nicely for this.
She faces a tough ask against a quality field here, but she’s a daughter of Exceed And Excel which could rise through the grades nicely.
Race 6. (15:25) Sydney Stakes (1200m)
#1 – Brutal @ $1.95 – Bet Now
Brutal is the first emergency for The Everest but he’s unlikely to get a run. However, that bodes well for punters here.
The Doncaster Handicap winner was tough when winning fresh up last start and that form is going to hold beautifully for this.
He’s a star on the rise and we’re expecting his current odds to only go one way. It could pay to lock in the value now before the big bets come along.
Drawing barrier two is also ideal and Tommy Berry should give him a sweet trip throughout.
Race 8. (16:50) Craven Plate (2000m)
#1 – Happy Clapper @ $3.30 – Bet Now
Happy Clapper is the class runner in the Craven Plate and he looks set to score an overdue win.
The Patrick Webster-trained gelding has placed at his last two starts and although he hasn’t won for awhile, this is his best chance for awhile.
He’s a nine-year-old now but he is still competitive against the very best and seeing early betting support for him is a good sign.
Drawn ideally and he’s ready to fire.
Race 9. (17:30) St Leger Stakes (2600m)
#2 – Patrick Erin @ $19 – Bet Now
We had all but given up on Patrick Erin this season but then he produced a big run to finish sixth last start.
Rising up to the 2600m is only going to help the Chris Waller-trained runner and he gets international rider Ryan Moore in the saddle.
Come Play With Me is the favourite for the race but Patrick Erin is the best value and should give punters a good sight down the Randwick straight.
Race 10. (18:10) The Star Mile (1600m)
#1 – Cascadian – Bet Now
This is Cascadian’s best chance to notch up a win in Australia after running some solid races in harder company.
The Cummings-trained import flashed home at his first two Australian starts before making solid ground when seventh last start.
He hasn’t been suited by some of those races and taking on an easier field is going to boost his confidence.
Draws an inside barrier and he should get an economical run.
