Randwick horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:35) Tab Highway C3 Handicap (1600m)

#18 – Lord Desanimaux @ $10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Value is with Lord Desanimaux, who finished second behind The Fossil at Rosehill in a similar race last start.

The six-year-old gelding hasn’t won for a while, but he has improved signficantly of late, so he deserves another chance.

54kg is ideal and punters get value odds.

Race 2. (13:10) Midway BM72 (1400m)

#10 – Different Strokes @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kim Waugh lines up the talented four-year-old, who scored by 2.8 lengths at Wyong last time out.

The son of Hinchinbrook won with ease, which is a good sign for the spring. He enjoyed the drop back in distance and he won’t have any problems with the 1400m.

Hugh Bowman rides, so keep him safe.

Race 3. (13:45) Cerrone BM78 (2000m)

#7 – Solar Apex @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Solax Apex was impressive when winning at Gosford by 1.5 lengths last start, and a repeat could be on the cards.

The four-year-old is now a three-time winner from 12 starts, including seven placings. There is plenty to like about that form line, so there is value with the $5.50 odds.

James McDonald sticks with him, which is a good sign.

Race 4. (14:20) Heineken 3 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m)

#2 – Coastwatch @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Chris Waller has a big opinion of this runner and his effort for third behind In the Congo and Anamoe was huge last start.

He is a two-time winner from nine starts and he’s still learning the game, which is a scary thought. We have faith Coastwatch will mature into a handy type, and winning the Stan Fox is possible.

Most of the early money has come his way.

Race 5. (14:55) Roman Consul Stakes (1200m)

#2 – Paulele @ $2.25 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Paulele is a four-time winner from eight starts, who finished second at his last two starts behind In the Congo and Home Affairs.

He chased gamely behind a smart type last start and although there are some smart types in this field, he should find it easier.

It’s another good ride for James McDonald.

Race 6. (15:30) Bentley Angst Stakes (1600m)

#1 – Amerelinha @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

There are a few things going against the Kiwi mare, but her class could take her over the line.

The Richards-trained mare finished eighth behind Atishu at her only Australian start, but she wasn’t far behind the winner.

Her form in New Zealand is easily good enough, so she could carry the 59kg from the outside draw.

Race 7. (16:10) Silver Eagle (1300m)

#6 – Ellsberg @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ellsberg returned with a tough win at Rosehill, and he’s good enough to continue his winning run.

The four-year-old has finished outside the placings in only one of his 10 career starts, so punters have cashed in with the consistent type.

Barrier six gives him an ideal run, so put him on top.

Race 9. (17:30) The Nivision (1200m)

#12 – Belluci Babe @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We loved the way Belluci Babe put away an easier field at Gosford last start, and it suggests she’s ready for this level.

The daughter of Per Incanto is a five-time winner from 11 starts, so she’s another consistent runner worth having on your ticket.

Carrying 54kg and Tim Clark brings her right into contention.

Race 10. (18:05) Dyson Sprint BM78 (1000m)

#10 – Leo @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

He comes off only a Highway Handicap win, but the five-year-old could handle this field over the short distance.

The son of I Am Invincible owns three wins at Rosehill and four wins over the distance, which bodes well for this race.

$7 is a fair price given the quality of the field.
