Randwick horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:00) Justify @ Coolmore Australia Maiden (1400m)
#6 – California Surreal @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
California Surreal hit the line impressively when running second at Gosford last start, so we’re expecting another tidy effort.
The three-year-old filly was only a nose behind Kooled, so that form bodes well, and she is progressing in the right direction.
Having James McDonald in the saddle is a bonus and her opening odds of $2.70 have been confidently taken.
Race 2. (14:35) Admire Mars at Arrowfield Maiden (1250m)
#1 – Able Willie @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Chris Waller-trained gelding has had three trials to prepare for his debut, including a third placing at Rosehill last time out.
The son of Written Tycoon also finished third in a trial behind Remarque, who has since raced at Group 1 level in the Golden Rose.
His opening odds of $3 have been backed into $2.50, which is a good sign.
Race 3. (15:10) Tab BM72 (1300m)
#9 – Beep Test @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We love the way Beep Test has won her last two starts, including a 1.3-length victory at Kembla Grange last time out.
The John O’Shea-trained three-year-old scored at Gosford two back before showing good barrier speed to lead them a merry chase last start.
It’s another premium ride for McDonald, who could have a big day.
Race 4. (15:45) Heineken BM72 (2400m)
#2 – Daysan @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Daysan is shooting for three wins on the bounce after scoring at Hawkesbury and Newcastle. The Kris Lees-trained gelding scored by 1.3 lengths last start, so it was a comprehensive showing.
He is a three-time winner from seven starts, and although yet to race on this track, he looks well-placed in this company.
His opening odds of $3.70 have been taken and having Hugh Bowman in the saddle only adds to his appeal.
Race 5. (16:20) Bowermans Furniture BM72 (1400m)
#3 – Darleb @ $8.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Value is with Darleb, who finished second behind Escape on this track last time out and he could go one better.
The Lees-trained five-year-old has a good record at the track and distance, so despite facing a $1.65 favourite, he’s good enough to cause an upset.
We expect him to settle off the pace and come with a big late run.
Race 6. (16:55) Vinery BM72 (1250m)
#9 – Torun @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Punters have been burned by Torun his last few starts, but the four-year-old should be given another chance.
The son of Medaglia D’oro was only 1.3 lengths behind a smart type in A Very Fine Red last start, so we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely.
His odds have drifted since markets opened, but punters get value odds now.
Race 7. (17:30) Buy @ Irish Sales Online BM72 (1800m)
#1 – Kingsheir @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Kingsheir has drifted since markets opened, but the Hawkes-trained five-year-old isn’t lacking ability.
The son of Kingsman finished seventh at Kembla Grange last start, but that came behind the talented Love Tap.
He defeated a quality field three starts back at Randwick, and despite carrying 62kg, he could be the testing material.
