Randwick horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:40) Tab Highway C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Parksville – Bet @ Sportsbet
Parksville scored three consecutive placings last preparation before kicking off this campaign with a third placing at Randwick.
The four-year-old son of Vancouver was a short margin behind Nags to Riches last start, which is top form for the Highway Handicap.
Expect another top effort on Saturday.
Race 2. (12:15) Vale Nini Vascotto BM78 (1100m)
#5 – Nags to Riches – Bet @ Sportsbet
She might have been beaten last start, but we thought Nags to Riches would improve with the run.
The four-year-old mare finished fifth behind More Prophets in what was a much deeper contest than she faces here.
Tom Sherry takes 2kg off her back and we’re prepared to stick with her.
Race 3. (12:50) Midway BM72 (1800m)
#1 – Casino Mondial – Bet @ Sportsbet
The son of Casino Prince ran fifth at Randwick two back and followed it up with a third placing behind Always Sure and Loveplanet.
We expect that form to stack up very nicely at the Midway level, and he gets the help of a 1.5kg apprentice claimer in the saddle.
Punters always get each-way odds with Casino Mondial, so keep him in mind.
Race 4. (13:25) Cleanaway BM72 (1300m)
#5 – Hot Spring Gold – Bet @ Sportsbet
We loved the way Hot Spring Gold hit the line to score at Randwick last start, and he’s good enough to continue winning in the spring.
The four-year-old son of Written Tycoon put three lengths on the field. It was a comprehensive display and seeing James McDonald in the saddle is a bonus.
He only needs a drag into the race from barrier 10 to figure in the finish.
Race 5. (14:00) Tab Concorde Stakes (1000m)
#3 – Wild Ruler @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Nature Strip is always a risk fresh up, but we’re taking the value with Wild Ruler at much better odds.
The Snowden-trained runner owns three wins from four fresh up starts, so he hits the ground running and he could be in for a big spring.
He is unbeaten in four starts at Randwick, so he loves the track and he looked good beating Adelong in a recent trial.
Race 6. (14:35) Darley Furious Stakes (1200m)
#4 – She’s All Class @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
She’s All Class has yet to finish worse than third from four starts, so the three-year-old demands respect on Saturday.
Trained by Chris Waller, the daughter of I Am Invincible finished second behind Four Moves Ahead last start, but she is drawn much better this time around.
It’s another premium ride for McDonald, who could have a big day.
Race 7. (15:10) Fujitsu General Tramway Stakes (1400m)
#1 – Zaaki @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zaaki has yet to fire in four starts over 1400m, but there is confidence in betting markets and he is the class act of the field.
He has crossed the line first in four consecutive starts, with the most recent coming over 2200m. However, he is shooting for $2 million in stakes earnings, which should see him handling this field.
$2.20 is a fair price and that man McDonald rides again.
Race 8. (15:50) Heineken Chelmsford Stakes (1600m)
#13 – She’s Ideel @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Bjorn Baker-trained mare ran home stoutly to place at Group 1 level last start and the extra distance is ideal.
She flashed home late behind Mo’unga, and we’re not sure why she’s not shorter in betting markets for this more suitable contest.
She loves Randwick and drawing the rail should see her get a saloon passage before pulling wide in the straight.
Race 9. (16:30) ACY Securities BM78 (1200m)
#16 – Eight Diamonds @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Eight Diamonds has the talent to win, especially after looking the goods at Canterbury fresh up.
The Team Hawkes-trained four-year-old won by two lengths before running behind Vitesse and Starla in two starts at Randwick.
Carrying 54.5kg is ideal and we’re sticking with her.
Race 10. (17:10) Sharp Extensive It BM94 (1500m)
#13 – Atishu @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Atishu is a classy Kiwi who showed her prowess when winning at Randwick first-up in Australia.
The Waller-trained mare won by 1.3 lengths in an impressive victory, which made it six wins in a row either side of the Tasman.
She’s heading to the top and conditions look even better for Saturday. Expect the $3.50 to firm considerably throughout the week.
