Robert Sangster Stakes Form Guide & Tips
1. September Run (Best Bet – $4.40) Bet @ Neds
September Run is the class runner of the field and she got back to her best form when winning the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.
It was an overdue win for the four-year-old mare, but she’s back to her best and will take some beating at Morphettville.
2. Bella Nipotina ($5.50) Bet @ Neds
Bella Nipotina is another mare who got back to her best form last start with a win at Randwick in heavy conditions.
She has solid experience at the top level and we wouldn’t be leaving her out of selection at an each-way quote.
3. Instant Celebrity ($13) Bet @ Neds
Instant Celebrity is a three-time winner at Morphettville and she comes off a second placing at Morphettville behind Bella Vella.
The Phillip Stokes-trained mare is paying longer odds than expected, so she’s worth including in trifecta and first four selections.
4. Bella Vella ($14) Bet @ Neds
Bella Vella got the better of Instant Celebrity fresh up so she must be considered on that run alone.
She won the Robert Sangster Stakes in 2020, so she knows what it takes and her confidence levels should be high.
5. Brooklyn Hustle ($10) Bet @ Neds
She can be a tough mare to follow, especially for win punters, but she has ability.
Brooklyn Hustle finished second at Sale last time out and prior to that she finished sixth at Rosehill behind Shelby Sixtysix.
$10 is a fair price for a runner of her ability.
6. Away Game ($9) Bet @ Neds
Away Game doesn’t win all that often and her best form comes on good tracks, so we’re unsure if this is the best race for her.
She didn’t fire in her only run at Morphettville and she won’t enjoy the inside barrier, so we’re prepared to risk her at the price.
7. Snapdancer ($14) Bet @ Neds
There wasn’t much to like about her performance in the Newmarket, but conditions are different here.
She is a quality mare who scored back-to-back wins prior to that and punters should look at that form as a better guide.
Luck is needed from barrier 16 but include her.
8. All Banter ($20) Bet @ Neds
Her three wins this preparation have all been good but rising to Group 1 grade could be too tough.
That’s reflected in betting markets and we would be surprised if she was quick enough to keep up with them.
9. Chaillot ($23) Bet @ Neds
We needed to see more from Chaillot fresh up to warrant attention. Her best form comes fresh, so it was a disappointing effort.
The class is there but we’d prefer to see what she can do before parting with our money.
10. So You Assume ($101) Bet @ Neds
So You Assume might be looking for further and the triple-figure odds reflect as much.
We couldn’t have her in our selections.
11. Another Award ($26) Bet @ Neds
The four-year-old mare is seeking three consecutive wins on the track and she could figure in the placings.
She loves the distance and punters shouldn’t overlook her chances at the price.
12. Gaze Grise ($46) Bet @ Neds
Gaze Grise has been in solid recent form but we don’t think she’s up to Group 1 level.
She has been specked at big odds, but we can’t have her in selections.
13. Argentia (Best Each Way – $10) Bet @ Neds
Argentia looked the goods when winning at Caulfield three back and she was only a nose behind Barb Raider last time out.
There is nothing wrong with that effort and we’re loving the double-figure odds available with the smart filly.
She could firm on race day.
14. Heresy (Best Roughie – $16) Bet @ Neds
Heresy isn’t the most consistent type going around but her win at Randwick two back stands out.
The James Cummings-trained filly wasn’t far behind a moderate field last start, but Damien Oliver rides and having him in the saddle helps.
16. Champagne Dreams ($19) Bet @ Neds
She got the better of Heresy last start, so we can’t rule her out. She enters first four calculations based on that effort.
