We have expert betting tips for the card this Wednesday at Rockhampton that features seven quality betting races.
Rocky is the host for Queensland Racing this Wednesday and punters are getting some good-sized fields to bet into.
Rockhampton horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (15:17) Happy New Year RJC Maiden (1050m)
#6 – Princess Rules – Bet Now
Princess Rules ran well for second on debut at Mackay and that form should stack up nicely for this run.
The two-year-old filly is only going to strengthen up this season and she made good ground in the straight, which is always a good sign.
Nigel Seymour takes the ride and that should ensure a good trip in transit.
Race 2. (15:52) Club 150 Membership Maiden (1300m)
#5 – Ready Aye Ready – Bet Now
There aren’t many quality runners in this field and Ready Aye Ready could take advantage of that.
She’s a More Than Ready filly that ran fifth at Doomben behind Centrefire and that form should hold up nicely for this.
Her trial form since hasn’t been overly impressive but she wasn’t asked to do much and there are certainly no superstars in this race.
Race 3. (16:27) Tab Handicap (1300m)
#2 – Jack Lancaster – Bet Now
Jack Lancaster is an 11-time winner and although he’s not getting any younger at seven, he has plenty of upside.
He’s an experienced runner with an incredible 62 starts for 11 wins and 25 placings. It’s a record that stacks up nicely in Queensland and he enjoys running at this track.
Facing only a field of nine runners should help his chances and it would take a brave punter to bet against him.
Race 4. (17:02) Lion Nathan Handicap (1300m)
#1 – Three Stripes – Bet Now
Three Strips has yet to finish worse than second from four career starts and he could add to that record here.
The three-year-old colt scored a win at Eagle Farm three back and followed that up with consecutive second placings on this track.
The win to break maiden grades was impressive and although beaten as an odds-on favourite last start, he only has improvement to come.
He’s bred for speed and should show that on Wednesday.
Race 5. (17:37) Hygain/Mitavite BM65 (1600m)
#7 – Meatball – Bet Now
Meatball is a consistent six-year-old that owns two wins and seven placings from 18 starts.
The Ricky Vale-trained gelding hasn’t finished worse than four at his last 10 starts, which includes two wins and six placings.
He owns good form at Rockhampton and he’s going to get every chance off the inside barrier. That could be enough to see him winning once again.
Punters should get competitive odds.
Race 6. (18:15) C’cornia Yearling Sale C2 (1050m)
#11 – Bondage – Bet Now
Four-year-old mare Bondage comes into this race with back-to-back wins. They came at much easier levels but she looked good when scoring by a length last start.
The Clinton Taylor-trained runner broke through when winning at Thangool in November and only good horses can win their very next start.
55.5kg on the back and she runs from barrier two. Looks a good chance on that.
Race 7. (18:50) XXXX Gold BM55 (1200m)
#6 – Flewshot – Bet Now
Flewshot was good enough to win three consecutive races before running well for third last time out.
The six-year-old gelding by Moshe went up in grade when running third on this track and punters should take encouragement from that effort.
It was the run of a mare that could win in this grade very shortly and punters should be getting juicy odds on offer.
