2018 Rosehill Guineas Form Guide & Tips
Ace High (Best Bet – $4.80) – BET NOW
David Payne lines up the quality three-year-old which hit the line well when fourth behind Kementari last start.
That’s going to be the best form guide for this race and the Randwick Guineas form should be tough to beat here.
Ace High has been waiting for the rise in distance and the Victoria Derby winner looks awfully tough to beat here.
Vin De Dance ($6) – BET NOW
Former Australian Vin De Dance won the New Zealand Derby last start, which is typically great form in Austrtalia, but we question the depth of that Derby.
It was one of the most even fields in recent history and he was only able to beat Mongolianconqueror by a nose margin.
$6 is far too short despite NZ Derby form stacking up well in previous years.
Age of Fire ($27) – BET NOW
Another Kiwi runner which has had time to adjust to the Australian tracks.
Finished well down the track in the Randwick Guineas and it’s tough to see him turning the tables on most of these.
Cliff’s Edge ($7.50) – BET NOW
Have been following this classy colt from word go and his win at Moonee Valley last start was all quality.
Rising in distance isn’t going to worry him but getting stuck on the rails on a wet track could be his undoing.
If the track is playing well, he’s a big chance at an each way price.
Mongolianconqeuror ($16) – BET NOW
Narrowly finished second in the New Zealand Derby and the rise in distance was always going to help the son of Ocean Park.
His winning record isn’t overly impressive and he will be forced to settle back from barrier 21, but Opie Bosson knows how to win features for this stable in Australia so don’t rule out.
Tangled ($67) – BET NOW
Tangled hasn’t shown up in two starts this campaign and we needed to see more from him last start.
Happy to overlook at the odds.
Capital Gain ($51) – BET NOW
Capital Gain is running out of his grade and although he has a big race win under his belt, that’s looking like a fluke at this stage and he’s simply not running up to this level.
D’argento (Best Each Way – $5) – BET NOW
D’argento was caught wide throughout in the Randwick Guineas and it was a mammoth effort to run seventh.
The Chris Waller-trained son of So You Think shouldn’t settle so far back this time around with Hugh Bowman back in the saddle and this three-year-old is bred to be a Guineas winner.
The $5.50 is about as short as we would take and the $2.10 to place is well worth considering.
Villermont ($13) – BET NOW
More than capable on his day, but there are some negatives going against him.
We would have liked to have seen more from him last start and he has never run on a rain-affected track.
He appears to be more of a miler so we’d want better odds to back him here.
Kaonic (Best Roughie – $13) – BET NOW
Kaonic has screamed Guineas type since winning over the mile at Randwick last October.
The son of Savabeel hasn’t had much luck since then, but it has all been in preparation for this run and his effort for sixth in the Randwick Guineas was a good form guide.
He’ll relish the extra distance and we’re expecting him to be right around the mark.
The Lord Mayor ($23) – BET NOW
Former New Zealand runner which finished fourth in the Derby and is now with Chris Waller.
That was some effort to run fourth as a $26 chance and with good wet track form, The Lord Mayor could be a blowout chance.
Endowment ($31) – BET NOW
Another Kiwi runner which finished fifth in the Derby and this stable knows how to win these big races in Australia.
Tough to win from barrier 19 and we haven’t seen enough from the Savabeel gelding to be confident of a winning result.
Mission Hill ($16) – BET NOW
Guess what? It’s another New Zealand runner which ran sixth in the NZ Derby earlier this month.
The Baker/Forsman-trained three-year-old has looked like a nice stayer throughout his career and he’s going to relish any sting out of the ground.
Not the worst at $16 and we’re expecting money to come for him on the day.
Main Stage ($20) – BET NOW
Disappointing behind Grunt at Flemington last start and we were expecting a better effort.
Could rebound but there are better chances in this.
Furore ($11) – BET NOW
Exciting type for Kris Lees which is unbeaten from four starts.
All of those wins have come at midweek grade and this is a massive rise in class, but they have come easily and one of them came on a soft track.
He’s the unknown quantity of this field, which adds some excitement and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him going close.
So You Win ($46) – BET NOW
Hasn’t done much wrong in five starts to date but finishing second behind Pandemonium is good form leading into this.
He would need to find another length or two to take this out.
Condor ($46) – BET NOW
Runs consistent races but we’re unsure if he can make up the 3.5 lengths from the Randwick Guineas.
Having his fifth run this campaign which helps and he could run into the money.
Terwilliker ($101) – BET NOW
Odds have firmed in from $151 to $101 but that’s about where the excitement ends.
Would need to improve out of sight to win this.
Mongolian Marshal ($14) – BET NOW
Has scored back-to-back wins in New Zealand and he’s bred to be a staying superstar.
On the ballot at the moment but watch out if he gets a run.
Yuralla Boy ($101) – BET NOW
Unlikely to get a run and even if he does, he won’t be winning.
Tangmere ($51) – BET NOW
Needs luck to get into the field but there are worse chances if he does squeak into the field.
