Navy Steel wasn’t too far away when seventh at Randwick last start, and punters should expect improvement now.
The four-year-old son of Merchant Navy owns three wins and three placings from 11 starts, and being on the quick back-up should help.
We’re happy to include him in picks at the odds.

Attractiveness was scratched due to a wide barrier last week, but she has come up with barrier four on Saturday.
The three-year-old filly finished second when looking like an easy winner last start, but she’s a progressive filly with plenty of upside.
She is risky against this class, but the 52kg on her back helps.
Stake: 1 Unit
Having winning form could set Incognito apart from the opposition, and the two-year-old colt by Stay Inside showed good toughness.
His Breeders’ Plate win should hold up nicely this preparation, and he has been prepared with a trial win and placing.
We expect him to hit the ground running in a tough race.
Stake: 1 Unit
Chris Waller scratched her last week, and although the Widden Stakes is a tougher assignment, that should give punters confidence.
The two-year-old filly by Home Affairs has shown good pace in two trials, and with James McDonald picked to ride, that is a good sign.
Look for her to settle just behind the speed and hit the line well.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Off the Press has been a model of consistency throughout his career, including six wins and four placings.
The Todd Smart-trained gelding won at Randwick three back before posting back-to-back second placings, so the form is on the board.
If he gets a good run from the wide draw, he should be competitive.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Gunning for four consecutive victories is Cross Tasman, who is good enough to make the rise in class.
The four-year-old son of Super Seth won his only start at Rosehill last start in heavy conditions, and a better track plays into his hands.
He could be an autumn type, so if he wins on Saturday, he could head out for a spell and come back stronger.
Stake: 2 Units
Sixties looks to make an impression fresh up having run at Group 1 level behind Beiwacht last time out.
The Waller-trained colt owns two wins from six starts, and his win in the Ming Dynasty is an excellent form guide for BM88 racing.
Carrying 52.5kg is a steal, so include him in horse racing picks.
Stake: 2 Units
After being backed and beaten in two runs this preparation, we’re giving The Instructor another chance.
He ran second at Canterbury before finishing seventh behind Axius in a tough race at the Gold Coast Magic Millions meeting.
He has seven wins from 20 starts, so the form is on the board.
Stake: 1.5 Units
We’re going with another Waller-trained runner in Willie Oppa, who owns two wins from his last three starts.
The four-year-old won those races at Randwick, so the form stacks up well for this race, and it’s not an overly tough field.
Look for a betting push throughout the week.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Agarwood was a hyped horse early on following consecutive victories, and she has hopefully recovered after a disappointing second campaign.
She didn’t fire a shot in two runs last prep, but she has since changed stables, and her recent trial lacing at Randwick is a good sign.
Look for her best form to return to the track.
Stake: 1 Unit
