Rosehill horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:15) Elite Sand & Soil Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Military Expert @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The two-year-old colt comes off a second placing at Randwick on debut and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely.
He is a well-bred son of Redoute’s Choice that has been well-backed in markets since opening and he should find cover from an outside draw.
$3.30 is a fair price and we’re happy to take it.
Race 2. (11:50) Tab Highway C3 Plate (1500m)
#11 – Zoo Station @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zoo Station was good enough to win three consecutive races before running sixth at Randwick last time out.
The Williams-trained four-year-old is unbeaten at this track and she looks capable of handling the slight rise in distance.
Barrier four is ideal and her odds have been slashed since markets opened.
Race 3. (12:25) Bowermans Furniture BM72 (1500m)
#5 – Black Bolt @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old son of Savabeel owns two wins and four placings from seven starts, so he doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
He comes off a third placing at Hawkesbury behind Adamas Prince and he should appreciate the race fitness.
$6 is a fair price and that quote should firm.
Race 4. (13:00) Hyland Race Colours July Sprint (1100m)
#5 – All Time Legend @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Les Bridge lines up the four-year-old gelding that owns five wins from nine starts, so he is better than most in this field.
The son of Zoustar finished third behind Shared Ambition over the mile last start. Despite dropping in distance, he is capable of sprinting fresh up and two of his three fresh starts have resulted in wins.
53kg on his back is ideal and we’re expecting a big effort.
Race 5. (13:35) Schweppes BM78 (2400m)
#7 – Smokin’ Romans @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Smokin’ Romans comes from Melbourne with good form, including a last-start victory at Sandown.
The Maher/Eustace-trained gelding scored by 1.3 lengths over Vegas Knight and that is a good form guide for this level of racing.
Having James McDonald in the saddle helps and punters get each-way odds.
Race 6. (14:10) City Tattersalls Club BM78 (1200m)
#9 – Turnstyle @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Bjorn Baker lines up the four-year-old mare that returned to form at Canterbury and she has been well-favoured to win here.
The daughter of Rubick owns four wins and six placings from 17 starts and although she has yet to win at this distance, she has upside.
James McDonald rides from barrier three and we’re in her camp.
Race 7. (14:45) XXXX Winter Challenge (1500m)
#3 – Order Again @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Order Again comes off three consecutive placings and he is getting close to breaking through for a win.
The seven-year-old son of Iffraaj is a two-time winner at the distance and he owns three wins on a heavy track, so that is ideal.
Hugh Bowman rides and we’re not surprised by the each-way odds available with bookmakers.
Race 8. (15:25) Midway BM72 (1500m)
#1 – Ashim @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ashim is an imported runner that owns two wins from nine starts and he looked good running second at Randwick last time out.
The son of Stormy Atlantic was 3.3 lengths behind the winner and although beaten, he hit the line nicely enough and that is a good sign going forward.
His opening odds of $5 have been taken and he could start much shorter.
Race 9. (16:05) The Agency Real Estate BM78 (1200m)
#8 – Rustic Steel @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rustic Steel is a three-time winner from five starts and he could add to his record on Saturday.
The son of Deep Field comes off a win at Randwick and he showed a good late sprint to get the job done. It was an impressive victory and only the draw would worry him.
Each-way odds are available and his odds should firm.
Race 10. (16:45) Quayclean BM88 (1300m)
#6 – Ventura Ocean @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ventura Ocean is shooting for three consecutive wins and the five-year-old gelding finds form quickly.
The son of Raven’s Pass owns five wins and five second placings from 18 starts, which is a solid record at this stage of his career.
$7.50 is well worth taking for a runner with two fresh-up wins.
