Rosehill racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:30) Midway BM72 (1200m)
#5 – The Extreme Cat @ $6.00
The Extreme Cat is fresh up and the five-year-old typically finds form quickly in his campaign.
He won races at Hawkesbury and Rosehill last time in work, so having winning experience in the city adds to our confidence.
He comes off a trial win, so put him on top.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (13:05) Bisley Workwear BM78 (1900m)
#11 – Hurtsville Zagreb @ $6.50
This is the acid test for Hurtsville Zagreb, who won by a half-length at Canterbury as a $1.75 chance last start.
It was a good performance from the unbeaten gelding, who rises two rating bands for this Saturday race. However, getting in with only 52kg is ideal.
He could be a smart type in the making, so keep him safe.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (13:40) Pago Pago Stakes (1200m)
#2 – Comedy @ $12.00
Not everything went the way of Comedy last start behind a nice type, and he could find this field slightly easier.
James Cummings is having great success with his juveniles and Comedy isn’t out of Slipper contention with a win on Saturday.
The blinkers are off and he should come out running.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 4. (14:15) Racing and Sports Magic Night Stakes (1200m)
#3 – Open Secret @ $12.00
The two-year-old filly won well on debut before going two solid races in defeat.
She ran two lengths behind Rivellino before running 1.8 lengths behind Within the Law, and that form could be franked in Race 3.
Barrier nine is tricky but a touch of luck could get it done.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 5. (14:50) Asahi Super Dry Sky High Stakes (2000m)
#1 – Lindermann @ $2.35
Lindermann is the worthy favourite after posting placings behind Fangirl and Via Sistina, which is the best form for this race.
He faces some nice middle-distance types in this race, but with two wins from three starts over 2000m, he commands attention.
He likes the track and we’re happy with the odds, so back him with confidence.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 6. (15:25) Chandon Phar Lap Stakes (1500m)
#9 – Lazzura @ $3.50
The money has come for Lazzura, who should find this easier than running behind Lady Shenandoah and Lady of Camelot last start.
She hasn’t found winning form for some time now, but the three-year-old daughter of Snitzel doesn’t meet those types in this race.
After opening at $3.90, strong betting moves have come her way.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 7. (16:00) Ikon Services Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m)
#11 – Perspiration @ $7.00
Looking to make a winning return is Perspiration, who owns two wins and two second placings from five starts.
The Ciaron Maher-trained colt ended last prep with a win at Rosehill over Gatsby’s, who has since run at Group 1 level.
The form checks out and carrying 53kg is ideal.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (16:35) Coolmore Classic (1500m) – GROUP 1
Read our full Coolmore Classic preview here – including best bets, trifecta and first four picks!
Race 9. (17:15) Hyland Race Colours Ajax Stakes (1500m)
#4 – Freedom Rally @ $12.00
Freedom Rally has been testing punters patience but we’re giving him one more chance to impress.
The five-year-old owns seven wins from 22 starts, and coming from Melbourne to Sydney could see his form improve.
The double-figure odds are generous enough to include on an each-way basis.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 10. (17:55) Quayclean BM88 (1400m)
#9 – Harlem Queen @ $3.80
Harlem Queen looked good last preparation and having James McDonald riding increases her chances of returning as a winner.
The Nathan Doyle-trained filly won at Kembla Grange before placing at Randwick behind Lady Shenandoah, and that form has been franked.
We expect a tidy effort on Saturday.
Stake: 1.5 Units
