Sandown free tips & form
Race 1. (13:00) Ladbrokes Handicap (1000m)
#7 – Kooweerup @ $2.80 – Bet Now
Tough field to line up but the majority of money has come for Kooweerup, which ran last of six runners in a recent trial.
The trial wasn’t impressive but she has been backed in from $5.50 to $2.80 and that’s one of the bigger moves for a debutante you’ll see.
Good chance based on that.
Race 2. (13:35) Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1400m)
#1 – Chenier @ $1.40 – Bet Now
Chenier has a big reputation after scoring by 5.5 lengths on debut and we respect that win, but it’s interesting to see this stable keep him at the midweek level.
If he had group-race winning ability, he thought he would have been lining up in something harder but he should be able to score this with ease, if he lives up to the hype.
Midweek wins should always be treated with caution but he’s an interesting runner with a nice future.
Race 3. (14:10) Spicer Thoroughbreds BM64 (1300m)
#7 – Music Bay @ $2.30 – Bet Now
Phillip Stokes lines up the smart three-year-old which has been beaten twice this campaign, however, she’s a smart type.
The daughter of Choisir was good enough to run against the likes of Mystic Journey in the city and her Group 1 experience should take her a long way.
She drops in grade and the apprentice claim will help with the big weight.
Race 4. (14:45) Mypunter BM70 (1300m)
#12 – Jentico @ $4.80 – Bet Now
The three-year-old filly hasn’t been overly impressive at her last two starts, but her two wins prior were full of quality.
She scored a dead-heat win at Moonee Valley before taking on age-group opposition at Sandown and running 10th. That run wasn’t great but she did good work late last start and that should help.
We’re allowing another chance but she is running out of them.
Race 5. (15:20) Le Pine Funerals BM70 (1600m)
#11 – Limeshow @ $9 – Bet Now
Well-related filly which scored a quality win at Sandown last start and that form could stack up nicely for this.
The three-year-old has won two of her last four starts and although she didn’t fire when rising up to this grade two back, that came behind Mr Quickie, which had won six in a row.
Nice odds on offer and worth taking the risk.
Race 6. (15:55) The Big Screen Company BM70 (1600m)
#2 – Blinder @ $3 – Bet Now
Blinder was beaten at Bendigo last start but he wasn’t disgraced behind what was a good Saturday field.
The Busuttin/Young-trained colt was a winner at Caulfield three back and he then ran second behind the talented O’tauto at Flemington.
That’s top-quality form and he should be right around the mark in this race.
Race 7. (16:30) Walk For Phil BM84 (1000m)
#3 – Written Choice @ $2.90 – Bet Now
Written Tycoon gelding which has beaten only one horse home from his last two starts, but this is much easier.
The Logan McGill-trained runner had won his last two starts prior to that and he had looked good in doing so. Dropping to this class should bring him right back into form.
$2.90 is a solid price.
Race 8. (17:05) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM84 (1800m)
#11 – Silent Roar @ $3.20 – Bet Now
Gets into this race with only 54kg on her back and that makes her a winning threat. She’s coming off a 2.8-length win at Sandown and is facing a steep rise in class here.
She goes from rating 70 to rating 84 for this but the drop in weight accounts for that and her turn-of-foot should be good enough to be a winning chance.
Solid odds on offer and it’s good value for punters.
