We have expert betting tips for the card this Wednesday at Sandown that features eight quality betting races.
It’s a heavy track at Sandown but the fields are holding up nicely. We have our best value bets throughout the day.
Sandown horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (12:45) Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap (1400m)
#3 – Flying Award @ $3 – Bet Now
Danny O’Brien lines up the two-year-old colt that did well to run second on debut at Ballarat.
The son of Shamus Award made up a stack of ground behind Lunar Fox, and that form has stacked up brilliantly since.
Damien Oliver rides and he should prove tough to beat in the opener.
Race 2. (13:20) Ladbrokes BM64 (1400m)
#9 – Ocean Heart @ $11 – Bet Now
Ocean Heart runs at value odds and she looked the goods when winning at Sandown in January.
The daughter of Ocean Park has finished in the money in five of her eight starts, and she won her only start over this distance.
Her effort at Launceston wasn’t great, but she’s better suited to this track.
Race 3. (13:55) Clanbrooke Racing Maiden (1600m)
#2 – Hasseltoff – Bet Now
Robbie Griffiths lines up the three-year-old gelding that deserves a winning turn after back-to-back placings.
He finished second at Pakenham on debut when making up a stack of ground. Following that he ran a nose behind the winner in a gutsy effort.
Drawing barrier nine could make it awkward but he has time to find cover.
Race 4. (14:30) Ladbrokes Switch BM70 (1200m)
#9 – Lunakorn @ $4.80 – Bet Now
Lunakorn capped off consecutive placings with a win at Pakenham last start. The Anthony Freedman-trained filly defeated Hasseltoff, so that form could hold up nicely.
The daughter of Puissance de Lune showed her ability when placing at her first two starts, and it was good to see her winning last start.
Punters are getting each-way odds and they’re worth taking.
Race 5. (15:10) Ladbrokes Money Back Odds BM70 (1300m)
#2 – Viral @ $4.20 – Bet Now
Viral went close at Moonee Valley last start and we’re expecting that form to hold up nicely.
The four-year-old gelding is a three-time winner from 15 starts, which includes a win at Mornington this preparation.
Having Craig Williams in the saddle is going to help and he only needs to carry the weight to win.
Race 6. (15:50) Thoroughbred Club BM78 (1600m)
#11 – Zayydani @ $3.50 – Bet Now
Lindsay Park lines up the filly that looked good winning her first two races. The daughter of Savabeel scored on debut by 3.3 lengths, which showed off her class.
She was beaten at Moonee Valley last start, but she got too far back and The Valley is a tough circuit to navigate.
$3.50 is a fair price from bookmakers.
Race 7. (16:30) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM70 (1600m)
#4 – Aussie Nugget @ $3 – Bet Now
Aussie Nugget showed his class when winning three consecutive races last campaign. It culminated with a one-length win at Sandown, so that bodes well for this run.
The son of Dansili kicked off this campaign with a second placing at Geelong, and he was a touch unlucky not to win.
He’s a two-time winner over the mile and he gets every chance from barrier two.
Race 8. (17:10) Ladbrokes Boost Multi BM78 (2100m)
#4 – War Tiger @ $3 – Bet Now
War Tiger is a last-start winner that could continue to win. The imported gelding was a two-time winner in Europe and his win at Morphettville showed his class.
Drawing barrier two is ideal for this run and it will allow him to find a good spot in running. Ben Melham takes over the riding duties and that’s another positive.
$3 is a fair price and those odds could shorten.
