Sandown horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (15:40) Ive Print Plate (1000m)

#2 – Golden Queen @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Golden Queen has shown enough ability at the trials and we thought she would be the favourite.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained filly comes off a trial win at Randwick by two lengths, so the daughter of Gold Standard clearly has ability.

Having Damien Oliver in the saddle is a bonus.

Race 2. (16:15) Ladbroke It Maiden (1300m)

#9 – Savonia @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We’re sticking with Damien Oliver, who rides early favourite Savonia. The three-year-old filly ran third on debut and is looking to improve on that position.

She was only 1.5 lengths behind the winner Glitter ‘N’ Gold, which should be a good form guide. It was a nice debut effort and she will strengthen up nicely.

Punters get odds worth taking.

Race 3. (16:50) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Maiden (1400m)

#6 – Ocean Chief @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ocean Chief is a former New Zealand runner coming off a second placing at Te Rapa.

The Mike Moroney-trained five-year-old has form behind some smart types and it wouldn’t come to Australia if it wasn’t up to the level.

It’s another premium ride for Oliver, who could start the day in fine style.

Race 4. (17:25) Tile Importer C1 Handicap (1000m)

#6 – Along the River @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Along the River has drifted in betting markets since they opened, but the Ellerton-trained colt could win again.

The son of Written Tycoon scored narrowly at Kilmore last time out and he showed a good turn-of-foot to get there late.

Daniel Moor will likely push forward from the draw and give them something to chase.

Race 5. (18:00) Ladbrokes Same Race Multi BM64 (2400m)

#1 – Saving @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The six-year-old gelding comes off a stylish win at Moonee Valley and that form stacks up well at this level.

He destroyed the field to score by six lengths in a front-running performance, so we expect similar tactics on Wednesday.

Most of the early money has come for Saving, which isn’t a surprise.

Race 6. (18:30) Ladbrokes Blended Bets BM64 (1300m)

#2 – Lariat @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lariat turned her form around nicely with a third placing at Moonee Valley behind Jump the Broom, who has since won in Sydney.

The four-year-old mare owns two wins and three placings from 10 starts, so she hasn’t been too far away from the prize.

She gets a 3kg claimer to ride, which could tip the scales in her favour.

Race 7. (19:00) Ladbrokes Switch BM64 (1800m)

#14 – Designs @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Designs has only one win on her record, but the Freedman-trained mare is better than her record suggests.

She comes off consecutive placings at Kilmore and Sandown, and although beaten last time out, she loomed to win in the straight.

Getting the inside draw with Jamie Kah riding is ideal, so take the $3.20.

Race 8. (19:30) Ladbrokes Bet Ticker BM70 (1400m)

#14 – Mrs Sippy @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Mrs Sippy is knocking on the door after consecutive placings and she looks ready to win with Kah in the saddle.

The six-year-old mare by Americain is a five-time winner, so she has the record to suggest she can win again.

Punters should enjoy the $6.50 available with bookmakers, so jump on before the price drops.
