Sandown horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (15:40) Ladbrokes Maiden Plate (1300m)
#13 – Derive @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Derive owns four placings from six starts and although she draws wide in barrier 13, she should be tough to beat.
The Ellerton/Zahra-trained three-year-old owns two placings from two starts at Sandown, and it’s only a matter of time before she wins.
$2.90 is a fair price, so expect a top effort.
Race 2. (16:15) Ive Print Handicap (1400m)
#2 – Daily Bugle @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Daily Bugle scored an impressive win at Pakenham on debut and we’re expecting that form to stack up well.
The two-year-old son of Press Statement scored by a length at odds of $26, but punters will have to take a much shorter quote on Wednesday.
Money has come for him since markets opened, which is a good sign.
Race 3. (16:50) Thoroughbred Club BM70 (2400m)
#5 – Muleta @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Muleta is a two-time winner that will appreciate the drop in class. He comes off a tough race at Caulfield, so racing midweek at Sandown should be ideal.
The well-bred son of Fastnet Rock gets a strong rider in the saddle and the small field of six is there for the taking.
Expect an improved effort at each-way odds.
Race 4. (17:25) Clanbrooke Racing BM64 (1800m)
#3 – Blue Ocean @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old comes off a third placing at Sandown and although four lengths behind the winner, there was plenty to like about the run.
He is a capable type that deserves more than one win from nine starts, but he looks ready to fire after his last-start placing.
Lachlan King takes 2kg off his back and that brings him into contention.
Race 5. (18:00) Ladbrokes Back Yourself BM70 (1600m)
#11 – Diamonds’n’stones @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Searching for three consecutive wins is Diamonds’n’stones, which defeated a quality field at Pakenham last time out.
The three-year-old son of Brazen Beau looks like a nice type in the making and dropping to 53.5kg is ideal.
Punters get value odds at $4.60, so take the odds available.
Race 6. (18:30) Quayclean BM78 (1400m)
#4 – Alburq @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mike Moroney lines up the four-year-old gelding that surprisingly has only one win on his record.
The son of Rubick has lined up against quality fields for most of his career, so dropping to midweek company could see his record improve.
He comes off a placing at Flemington and although yet to race at Sandown, drawing the inside barrier is ideal. Punters should be happy with the odds available.
Race 7. (19:00) MRC Members BM70 (1000m)
#3 – Modear @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Modear scored a win fresh up and she followed that up with back-to-back placings at Flemington.
There is plenty to like about her third placing behind Absolute Flirt two starts. That is a quality form guide and she backed it up with a placing behind Sapphire Crown.
Getting a 3kg claim is ideal and we’re happy with the $4 available.
Race 8. (19:30) Remembering Ray Huxley BM70 (1300m)
#7 – Ruler By Choice @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ruler By Choice is a three-time winner from nine starts and she comes into this race following an easy trial win at Morphettville.
The McEvoy-trained mare scored by 2.5 lengths two weeks ago and that was a good hit out before this contest.
Her fresh up form reads well and punters get value odds in the final race of the night.
