Sandown horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (15:40) Ladbrokes Split Multi Maiden (1200m)

#1 – Johnny Angel @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Johnny Angel is getting close to a win after notching four consecutive placings, including one of this track last time out.

The Aaron Purcell-trained gelding also finished second at Caulfield two starts back, which should be a good form guide this season.

He only needs some luck from the tricky draw to figure in the finish.

Race 2. (16:15) Clanbrooke Racing Maiden (1300m)

#8 – Media Statement @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Media Statement didn’t run as expected on debut when finishing seventh at Mornington, but she’s worth another chance.

The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old had support at $3.10, and although not as short for Wednesday’s race, she still has support.

We would give her another chance against this level of opposition.

Race 3. (16:50) The Big Screen Company C1 (1400m)

#1 – Bottmingen @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Bottmingen was a strong winner at Cranbourne last start, and the four-year-old is capable of going back-to-back.

The Williams-trained son of Swiss Ace didn’t handle the tougher opposition at The Valley prior to the win, but he has confidence on his side now.

Drawing barrier 10 shouldn’t be an issue over this distance, and it could pay to watch betting markets on race day.

Race 4. (17:25) Ladbrokes Back Yourself BM64 (2400m)

#3 – Darvin @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Darvin turned his form around with a second placing at Sandown last start, so he could go one better.

The Williams-trained son of Le Havre hasn’t shown his best since arriving in Australia, but rising to 2400m should be right up his alley.

Money has come for Darvin since markets opened, so expect a top effort.

Race 5. (18:00) Thoroughbred Club BM64 (1600m)

#7 – Prism @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Prism is getting close to a win after consecutive placings at Sandown and Caulfield. The five-year-old mare went close at Sandown last start, which bodes well for this contest.

Getting a 2kg claimer in the saddle helps, and the three-time winner could add to her tally on Wednesday.

The $3.70 is likely to hold steady throughout the week.

Race 6. (18:30) Tile Importer BM64 (1200m)

#11 – It’sourtime @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Danny O’Brien-trained gelding was impressive when scoring on debut at Sale. He won by a length, and there is plenty of improvement left.

The son of Time For War should get all favours in the run from barrier six, and the betting markets could hold the key.

Punters should watch markets for late betting moves on Wednesday night.

Race 7. (19:00) Ladbrokes Easy Form BM64 (1300m)

#8 – Thunder Peak @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Thunder Peak scored a quality win at Wangaratta to start her campaign, and she will find this easier than recent assignments.

The daughter of Vancouver finished fifth at Moonee Valley and fourth at Flemington last start, so she will enjoy dropping to midweek grade.

Jamie Kah rides and her confidence could be enough to see Thunder Peak score its second career win.

Race 8. (19:30) Ladbrokes Switch BM70 (1300m)

#1 – Excelida @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

After scoring three consecutive placings, Excelida could score an elusive win. The four-year-old mare finished second at Caulfield last start, which is a strong form guide.

Prior to that she finished third behind Memphis Rock, and if there is any runner in this race due a win, it’s Excelida.

Getting 2kg off her back is ideal, and we’re confident of a big effort.
