Sandown racing tips

Race 1. (12:25) Fast Form Maiden (1300m)

#6 – Diosa @ $6.00

Diosa is getting close to posting a win after consecutive placings at Sale and Kyneton, and she’s in good hands.

The Chris Waller-trained filly is showing enough to suggest she can break maidens soon, and this race is there for the taking.

Ben Melham rides and having a strong jockey helps her chances.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 2. (13:00) Thoroughbred Club of Australia Handicap (1000m)

#9 – Samudra @ $1.90

Samudra has looked good at the jumpouts, winning all three at Cranbourne, which is usually a good form guide for debutantes.

The Mark Walker-trained filly is bred for speed by Snitzel, and she has been well-backed after opening at $2.60 with bookies.

It’s a tough race, including a race winner, but she has speed to burn.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (13:35) Blackbook BM64 (1000m)

#4 – Foxenberg @ $2.05

Looking to remain unbeaten is Foxenberg, who scored an impressive 1.8-length win on debut when beating subsequent winner Central Bank.

The three-year-old gelding by Foxwedge has since won a trial at Caulfield by three lengths, so we’re not surprised to see shortening odds.

Take the $2.05 odds before more money comes for him on race day.

Stake: 4 Units

Race 4. (14:10) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives BM74 (1000m)

#10 – Divino Cavallo @ $5.50

Boasting two wins from three starts, Divino Cavallo can’t be overlooked at each-way odds on Wednesday.

The four-year-old mare by Pierro won at Morphettville and Bendigo, so that form checks out, and she only needs luck from a wide barrier.

She has speed to burn, so take the value odds.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (14:45) Sportsbet Feed BM70 (2400m)

#1 – Galilaeus @ $6.00

The five-year-old comes off a tough second placing at Caulfield behind Fernao, and that form bodes well for midweek racing at Sandown.

He is a quality stayer who won at Cranbourne four back, and although yet to win over 2400m, he has been close with two placings.

Given the odds, we’re happy to include him in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:20) Evergreen Turf BM70 (1800m)

#6 – Half Yours @ $3.60

Half Yours has made a good start to his career with three wins and two second placings from seven starts.

The McEvoy-trained gelding has yet to win at Sandown from two attempts, but it’s only a matter of time before he wins here.

He paid $1.60 last start at Seymour, so getting $3.60 is a generous price.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (15:50) Quayclean BM70 (1500m)

#6 – Boltsaver @ $4.20

Boltsaver is knocking on the door after consecutive second placings at Echuca and Warrnambool, and he ran second at his only Sandown start.

The four-year-old son of Bolt D’oro is a three-time winner overall, and it’s only a matter of time before he wins another race.

After opening at $6, his odds have firmed considerably.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (16:30) Race Replays BM70 (1300m)

#2 – Kahhof @ $7.00

Kahhof is better for his fresh up effort at Flemington, and this level of racing should be right up his alley.

He ran behind Losesomewinmore, which is a good form guide, and he has yet to finish worse than third in four attempts at Sandown.

He’s going under the radar, so snap up the $7 odds.

Stake: 2.5 Units
