Sandown Racing Tips for Saturday, September 5th 2026

Punters get each-way odds for Celestial Zara, who owns three wins and two placings from only five career starts.

The four-year-old mare by Cosmic Force won at Sandown last time out by a length, and that should be a good form guide.

Barrier four with a strong rider in Jamie Mott riding helps.

The four-year-old mare kicked off her last preparation with three consecutive wins, and she could hit the ground running again.

She owns four wins from eight starts overall, and all four wins came over 1000m, so she clearly loves this distance more than 1100+.

With only 53kg on her back, she could put them to the sword early in the contest.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Cruiserweight has been scratched twice over the last two weeks, and punters are hoping that he lines up on Saturday.

He’s looking to bounce back after running fourth at Caulfield last start, where the race wasn’t run to suit the former New Zealander.

His first three wins were good, and we’re banking on him getting back to that form.

Stake: 1 Unit

There is plenty of hype around Adelaide-based Pretty Baby, who did well to score last time out.

The three-year-old filly is tipped to compete in bigger races later this spring, and there is solid market confidence for the favourite.

She could be a nice type in the making, so follow the money trail.

Stake: 1 Unit

Looking to return from a spell as a winner is Blind Raise, who looked good when winning his first two starts.

We wouldn’t look too deeply at his Eagle Farm run. The race wasn’t run to suit, and he was a sitting duck in the straight.

His debut win at Sandown came by 2.3 lengths, and that’s our best form guide for this race.

Stake: 1 Unit

It’s tough to find value in this betting market, so we’re going with the best runner in the field.

Evaporate comes off a third placing behind Cosmic Crusader, and that form has been franked, so he has the class edge over this field.

Blake Shinn rides, and punters should expect him to settle handy and kick strongly.

The five-year-old son of Written Tycoon doesn’t win all that often, but he’s never too far away from the prize.

He comes off back-to-back placings at Flemington, and although yet to race at Sandown, the long straight is right up his alley.

54kg on his back is ideal, so the odds are generous.

Stake: 1 Unit

We like what Changing Colours has done this preparation with wins at Caulfield and Flemington, and she has gone to another level.

She won by two lengths at Flemington before winning by 1.5 lengths as a $1.75 favourite last start, and punters get better odds now.

She is loving life, so include her in horse racing picks.
