Rosehill free tips & form
Race 2. (12:50) Highway Handicap (1500m)
#2 – Risk And Reward @ $3.50 – BET NOW
The consistent type probably deserved to win last time out at Rosehill against a harder Highway Handicap field and he should enjoy racing against this quality of field.
The four-year-old is a winner of two from seven starts and pushing Handle The Truth to within a neck is a good effort at this stage of the season.
His odds are drifting but he’s currently a value play.
Race 3. (13:25) Gloaming Stakes (1800m)
#4 – Tavirun @ $4.20 – BET NOW
Tavirun might be overlooked in the betting come race day but its form stacks up nicely and there’s good value on offer.
The Busuttin/Young-trained runner was an upset winner at Moonee Valley last start and the form out of that race should stack up nicely for the spring.
His maiden win at Donald was solid and Donald form has stood up during the spring carnival in years gone by. The switch to Sydney racing is by design and that means connections are confident in his chances this Saturday.
Race 5. (14:35) Shannon Stakes (1500m)
#6 – Youngstar @ $3.30 – BET NOW
Youngstar produced a big effort to run sixth behind Comin’ Through last time out and it was a mammoth effort from a mare which was always wanting more distance.
The four-time winner by High Chaparral is going to improve over the 1500m and although still short of her best, she owns the serious class edge over this field.
The inside draw coupled with the 53.5kg makes her very tough to beat and punters are still getting great odds.
Race 6. (15:10) Golden Pendant (1400m)
#3 – Dixie Blossoms @ $5.50 – BET NOW
Ron Quinton returned his mare in good order last start when the six-year-old finished third in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes behind Comin’ Through.
Always better with a run under the belt, the two-time second-up winner maps out well in this race at 56.5kg and although she has yet to win at Rosehill, she has run some big races there.
A win here would take her over the $1 million mark and she deserves respect.
Caulfield free tips and form
Race 2. (13:05) Fight Cancer Foundation BM78 (1800m)
#8 – Lucky For All @ $2.35 – BET NOW
The class act of this field, Lucky For All had a much-needed hit-out last time out and the extra distance plays right into his hands.
Trained by Darren Weir, the three-time winner looked the goods last season and although he finished seventh in the Queensland Derby, that class is higher than what he faces here.
Drawing wide won’t be an issue as he drops back and gets into his gears late.
Race 3. (13:40) Skyline Education Foundation (1000m)
#1 – Written By @ $1.60 – BET NOW
Punters will have to take the short odds on offer for Written By but there will be plenty of bets running through this class type.
The Blue Diamond winner, which came on this track, finished fourth in the Golden Slipper and is having his first start since March, but he should return in blistering order.
The speedy son of Written Tycoon has the breeding barn in store but will be out for some more age-group riches this season. He should have matured into a nice colt and most of his opposition wouldn’t come close all things being equal.
Race 6. (15:30) Aquis J Moloney Pinchapoo (1400m)
#5 – Spanish Whisper @ $7.50 – BET NOW
The former New Zealand runner looked solid at her first Australian start when running fifth at Moonee Valley and she will only improve off that run.
Now trained by Lindsay Park, the well-performed three-year-old finished third behind NZ stakes winner Sword of Osman at Ellerslie and although NZ sprinting form doesn’t always stack up, it could here.
$7.50 offers punters with good each way value.
Race 7. (16:10) Bendigo Bank Foundation Cup (2000m)
#10 – Night’s Watch @ $3.50 – BET NOW
Night’s Watch wasn’t a good betting opportunity last time out at the weights but gets into this at a more suitable 55kg.
The Weir-trained former Kiwi finished third behind Magic Consol and although the winner of that race isn’t a star, the field was still complete with quality types.
He drops from 59kg to 55kg for this and faces a field where many of the well-favoured types will be needing the run.
Now is the time to support Night’s Watch.
Race 9. (17:30) Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes (1200m)
#13 – Leather’n’lace @ $12 – BET NOW
Punters showed good support for this runner last start when fresh up but she looks a better chance this time around.
The Street Cry filly was left wanting when running seventh at Caulfield and the past second-up winner has shown the ability to bounce back after a poor showing.
$12 makes her worth including in selections and she could cause a late upset.
