The return of Moonee Valley night racing is back this Friday with the Group 1 Moir Stakes meeting.
It’s always a great meeting and it holds even more importance this year with some Everest spots up for grabs for the talented sprinters.
We have free tips and form for every race at Moonee Valley this Friday night.
Moonee Valley free tips & form
Race 1. (18:30) Waste Management Plate (1200m)
#2 – Sunset Watch @ $2.80 – BET NOW
The Hawkes-trained three-year-old looked good at times last season and running around Moonee Valley should help his chances.
He was a back-to-back winner, scoring wins at Ballarat and Caulfield by a combined margin of 4.3 lengths and although beaten last time out, he has been given time to recover from that effort.
Carrying 55kg is ideal and he’s going to be tough to beat in the opening race.
Race 2. (19:00) Stocks Stakes (1600m)
#5 – Sheezdashing @ $3.80 – BET NOW
That was a huge run from Sheezdashing last time out when rattling home for third behind I Am A Star at Flemington.
I Am A Star is the short-priced favourite to win again here but Sheezdashing represents better value at the price and she ran some slick sectionals to close off that race.
Moonee Valley should allow her to sling-shot them late and provide punters with a good sight.
Race 3. (19:30) JRA Cup (2040m)
#3 – Trap For Fools @ $2.25 – BET NOW
Trap For Fools loves running at The Valley after posting consecutive wins leading into this. The five-year-old gelding loves to lead and that’s a big asset at this track.
The opposition has been finding it tough to run him down and the son of Poet’s Voice looks a top chance to make it three straight wins around The Valley.
$2.25 is about as short as we would want to take, but this field isn’t strong and the odds could drop come Friday night.
Race 4. (20:00) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)
#1 – You’ve Been Had @ $2.35 – BET NOW
The Lisa Enright-trained six-year-old has had only eight starts in a restricted career to date but he has some serious talent. Five wins from eight starts is the record and that includes a 2.8-length win last time out.
That came at Moonee Valley, a track where he has won and placed from three starts and despite drawing wide in barrier 10, he has the early pace to cross them.
He’s drifting slightly in the betting but respect his chances.
Race 5. (20:45) Stutt Stakes (1600m)
#4 – Leonardo Da Hinchi @ $2.20 – BET NOW
The Darren Weir-trained colt produced a huge effort to run second behind unbeaten star Brutal at Flemington last start and that is the best form line coming into this.
Having won his first two starts, the son of Hinchinbrook has since finished behind Brutal on both occasions but he lost no admirers last start and this race looks tailormade for him here.
Drawing barrier two is ideal so expect a big effort.
Race 6. (21:15) Scarborough Stakes (1200m)
#6 – Humma Humma @ $5 – BET NOW
Humma Humma isn’t far off scoring another big win, having finished in the top three in all five career starts to date.
The John McArdle-trained filly finished a nose behind Sunlight two back at Caulfield and backed that up with another tough effort for second behind Thrillster.
The three-year-old placed at her only start on this track and punters are getting good value with the $5 price from bookmakers.
Race 8. (22:15) My Punter BM90 (1200m)
#6 – Manuel @ $10 – BET NOW
That was a nice resuming run from Manuel at Balaklava and although the opposition wasn’t overly flash, it was still a competitive outing.
The five-year-old son of Commands has yet to run at Moonee Valley, which is a concern and drawing wide won’t help, but he owns good barrier speed and he could kick on the turn.
$10 is a fair enough price.
