September 8, 2018 – Saturday Horse Racing Tips for Rosehill & Moonee Valley

Spring racing is in full swing and although there are no Group 1 races this Saturday, there’s some key lead-up races to the major events this season.

The Run to the Rose highlights a great betting card at Rosehill and the Dato Stakes at Moonee Valley highlights another fantastic betting card.

We have free tips, form and odds for the best races this Saturday.

All odds are with Sportsbet – our No. 1 rated bookmaker. You can join Sportsbet by clicking HERE.

Rosehill free tips & form

Race 1. (12:10) Canadian Club BM78 (1500m)

#8 – Eugene’s Pick @ $6.50 – BET NOW

We didn’t fancy her chances last time out when she was well-favoured at Rosehill but she proved us wrong by finishing second behind All Too Soon.

This looks slightly easier for the four-year-old mare which has yet to finish outside the placings from five starts and getting into this race with only 53kg on her back is a big bonus.

$6.50 is a value price and punters are getting good value.

Race 2. (12:50) Tab Highway Handicap (1200m)

#7 – Highway Sixtysix @ $3 – BET NOW

Good thing beaten last start when getting too far back in the run and storming home late to finish third behind Common Purpose.

James McDonald gets another chance to redeem himself and although the Snippetson mare has drawn wide and that could force McDonald back, expect the jockey to be more positive this time around.

There are no superstars in this field and her exposed form should take her close. She would be odds-on had she drawn a barrier.

Race 4. (14:00) Stan Fox Stakes (1500m)

#1 – The Autumn Sun @ $1.85 – BET NOW

The boom colt of last season returns here and the money has been put on. Chris Waller lines up the unbeaten son of Redoute’s Choice which has a stud career on the horizon.

The Group 1 J.J. Atkins winner has been given two soft trials to prepare for this run and although facing a tricky field here, there doesn’t appear to be any Group 1 contenders among the opposition.

$1.85 is short but watch his class come to the fore over the concluding stages.

Race 6. (15:10) Run to the Rose (1200m)

#3 – Graff @ $2.65 – BET NOW

Graff showed off his Golden Rose credentials with a big win in the San Domenico Stakes, which came by a margin of 2.5 lengths.

The talented son of Star Witness put pay to the good field and although he has drawn wide in barrier 13 for this, he should be able to get a good run.

His opening odds of $2.40 has drifted out and punters might get $3 on the day, but he could continue his march towards the main event with another success.

Race 7. (15:50) Sheraco Stakes (1200m)

#6 – Champagne Cuddles @ $3.10 – BET NOW

The Bjorn Baker-trained mare didn’t fire in the Tatt’s Tiara last time out but that came at the end of an arduous campaign and she looks to have returned in good order.

A recent trial win at Gosford will have the daughter of Not A Single Doubt in top shape for her return and given her placings behind Impending and Santa Ana Lane last season, she is the class runner of this field.

The inside draw is ideal and she should start shorter in the betting.

Race 8. (16:30) Schweppes BM88 (1100m)

#11 – Soothing @ $2.35 – BET NOW

Punters were left in awe by Soothing last start when the James Cummings-trained runner scored effortlessly by 4.8 lengths.

That made it consecutive wins for the improving four-year-old mare, which could take another step in the right direction here. She has been primed with a recent trial at Randwick and she could go well again.

Moonee Valley free tips and form

Race 2. (13:05) Horse Gym Australia BM78 (1600m)

#11 – Lucky For All @ $3.10 – BET NOW

Looked well above average last season, which included a run in the Queensland Derby. The four-year-old didn’t get much luck in his last two runs but his form prior was outstanding.

The Darren Weir-trained gelding scored three consecutive wins, which included a three-length win at Caulfield. That came over 2000m and although he’s facing a shorter distance here, he hits the ground running and should be tough to beat.

Race 5. (14:50) Mitty’s McEwen Stakes (1000m)

#2 – Nature Strip @ $1.45 – BET NOW

The boom sprinter of the field and maybe in Australia, Nature Strip will be out to impress the Everest buyers with a win here.

Looking for his fourth consecutive victory, Nature Strip put away Magic Millions winner and subsequent race winner Sunlight by six lengths at Morphetville last start and that form has to be respected.

Shoals is a tough opponent but he gets the inside draw to his advantage and another win looks likely.

Race 7. (16:10) Bendigo Bank Stakes (1200m)

#2 – Osborne Bulls @ $3.80 – BET NOW

Had Osborne Bulls not drawn the inside rail, it would be $2 in the betting but a change of tactics might not be the worst thing for it.

The Cummings-trained star likes to get back during the run and storm over the top of them, which won’t be a possibility here and he will instead rely on some luck, but riding forward could work as well.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see Craig Williams push forward and let the talented gelding find his gears early.

Race 8. (16:50) Dato Tan Chim Nam Stakes (1600m)

#1 – Hartnell @ $3.80 – BET NOW

There might be plenty of fans sticking with Night’s Watch, but it’s horribly unsuited at the weights and Hartnell at 59kg is the best bet in this race.

He will carry the same weight at Night’s Watch, despite having the clear class advantage and he’s a weighting special at Moonee Valley.

He has drawn to get every chance at good odds.
