Sha Tin horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (15:30) Tung Wan Shan Plate (1000m)
#5 – Lucky Banner – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Lucky Banner went close at Sha Tin last start and that was a step in the right direction.
The three-year-old son of Starspangledbanner was only a short head behind the winner and we expect form behind Circuit Nine to hold up.
Joao Moreira rides and he will drive down the odds.
Race 2. (16:00) Shouson Hill C5 Handicap (1600m)
#8 – Diamond Star – Bet @ Ladbrokes
It’s another good ride for Moreira, who partners Diamond Star. The John Size-trained gelding is always a multiple winner this preparation and he could add another.
The son of Sweet Orange won three back at Happy Valley by two lengths and his two efforts since have been good enough.
He only needs luck from the draw to push them close.
Race 3. (16:30) Shek Nga Shan C4 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Bundle of Charm – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Bundle of Charm scored a one-length win on debut at Sha Tin and we like his chances of remaining unbeaten.
The three-year-old son of All Too Hard will need to do some work from barrier 11 but it’s another premium ride for Moreira and he could start the day in fine style.
Race 4. (17:00) Sai Wan Shan C4 Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Forte – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Forte hasn’t been far behind them this season and he’s long overdue a win. He’s only a one-time winner but he has five placings to his name.
The David Hayes-trained son of Per Incanto finished fourth last time out and punters often get value odds for him.
He’s worth following on an each-way basis.
Race 5. (17:30) Sheung Yeung Shan C4 Handicap (1400m)
#3 – Leather Vanguard – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Leather Vanguard had only one start during his first campaign which was a second placing at Sha Tin.
The three-year-old son of Medaglia D’oro was a $41 chance on that occasion but it was an excellent run and it bodes well.
Purton rides from a good draw and he could add value.
Race 6. (18:00) Sheung Yeung Shan C4 Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Super Red Dragon – Bet @ Ladbrokes
The So-trained six-year-old almost scored an overdue win at Sha Tin last start and we’re sticking with him.
It has been a long time between drinks for the son of Starspangledbanner, who owns two placings this preparation and he could go one better.
Punters will get value odds on race day.
Race 7. (18:35) Lai Pek Shan C2 Handicap (1200m)
#8 – Rock Ya Heart – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Rock Ya Heart is a four-time winner and six-time placegetter from just 16 starts, so his form speaks volumes.
The four-year-old son of I Am Invincible drops to 54kg for this race and he should be competitive from there, despite facing a tough field.
Race 8. (19:05) Mount Cameron C2 Handicap (1600m)
#2 – Celestial Power – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Celestial Power ended his last preparation with consecutive wins and he could hit the ground running this time in.
The five-year-old son of Star Witness is a six-time winner from 19 starts and he defeated Zebrowski twice last year, which is good form.
It’s a tough field but he has plenty of upside.
Race 9. (19:35) Nam Long Shan C3 Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Everyone’s Victory – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Everyone’s Victory did enough when fourth fresh up and he has improvement to come.
The four-year-old son of Deep Field owns two wins and six minor placings from 14 starts, so he’s always around the mark.
It’s another good ride for Moreira and we’re not leaving him off our ticket.
Race 10. (20:10) Needle Hill C3 Handicap (1400m)
#3 – Keefy – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Keefy is getting close to posting another win after placing at Sha Tin last time out.
The three-year-old son of All Too Hard was under a length behind Escape Route last start and there’s little wrong with that form.
Add him to the book of rides for Moreira.
Race 11. (20:45) Mount Nicholson C3 Handicap (1200m)
#9 – Global Harmony – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Global Harmony comes from Australia following a win at Sandown and he could kick off his Hong Kong campaign with a win.
He is a talented three-year-old with Purton riding, so that’s a good sign and any positive betting moves would be ideal in the final race.
