Sha Tin horse racing tips

Race 1. (16:00) Somerset C5 Handicap (1200m)

#9 – One Step Ahead – Bet @ Ladbrokes

One Step Ahead is only a one-race winner from 30 starts but the six-year-old has plenty of upside.

The son of Tavistock didn’t fire last time out but his effort to record four consecutive placings following his win at Happy Valley is good form.

Karis Teetan rides from barrier eight and the light weight brings him into contention.

Race 2. (16:30) Norfolk C4 Handicap (1600m)

#1 – Free Foal – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Free Foal scored an impressive 2.3-length win at Sha Tin three back and he followed it up with another win last time out.

The four-year-old son of Press Statement rises in weight after scoring with 58kg on his back, but he could have the class advantage.

It could pay to watch betting markets.

Race 3. (17:00) Alnwick C2 Handicap (1600m)

#6 – Running Glory – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Running Glory owns four wins from seven starts and the four-year-old could add another win to his record.

The son of Kermadec scored by a half-length at Sha Tin last start and punters have been taking short odds for the talented type.

Carrying 54kg is ideal and he’s good enough for this level of racing.

Race 4. (17:30) Suffolk C5 Handicap (1400m)

#8 – Mission Smart – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Mission Smart is looking to cap off three consecutive placings with a win and we’re sticking with him.

The five-year-old son of Smart Missile has had 17 starts for five placings and he doesn’t have much of a field to beat here.

Punters should get each-way odds and they’re worth taking.

Race 5. (18:00) Essex C4 Handicap (1200m)

#12 – Smart Folks – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Smart Folks is only a one-time race winner but the five-year-old son of War Front shouldn’t be overlooked.

He comes off a second placing at Sha Tin behind Jazz Angel and carrying 51.5kg should give him every chance to show off his best form.

Bookmakers should be offering generous odds.

Race 6. (18:35) Dorset C4 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Woodfire Bro – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Woodfire Bro finished second on debut at Sha Tin before failing last start but we’re prepared to stick with him.

The three-year-old son of Echoes of Heaven gets a jockey change with Zac Purton taking over, which is a big asset.

It’s not an easy field so punters should get value odds on race day.

Race 7. (19:05) Kent C4 Handicap (1400m)

#3 – Seaweed Fortune – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Seaweed Fortune owns two wins and three placings from 17 starts and he could add to his record.

The six-year-old son of Tavistock won four starts back at Happy Valley and his efforts since have been solid enough.

Getting barrier three with Karis Teetan in the saddle is a positive and we’ll take the each-way odds available.

Race 8. (19:35) Cumberland C3 Handicap (1200m)

#6 – Everyone’s Victory – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Everyone’s Victory didn’t do much wrong last preparation with scoring two wins and four second placings.

The four-year-old turned his form around considerably and he could kick off this preparation in similar fashion.

He has upside and there are no superstars in this field.

Race 9. (20:10) Devon C3 Handicap (1400m)

#1 – Sauvestre – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Frankie Lor lines up the four-year-old son of Hinchinbrook who has been facing tough fields this season.

He won a good race at Sha Tin before finishing third behind Golden Empire and Decrypt, so that form should be tough to overlook.

Having Purton in the saddle is a bonus and he could take out the feature race.

Race 10. (20:45) Cornwall C3 Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Flying Season – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Flying Season has yet to finish worse than second from four starts and that record could be kept intact.

The three-year-old son of Exosphere scored by four lengths two back before being upset as a $1.40 chance last start.

He can bounce back in fine style on Sunday at short odds.
