Sha Tin horse racing tips
Race 1. (14:15) Tsz Wan Shan C5 Handicap (1400m)
#6 – Bundle of Energy – Bet Now
The David Hall-trained gelding hasn’t shown his best throughout his career but getting Joao Moreira in the saddle helps.
He finished fourth fresh up at Happy Valley and that was an encouraging run. He doesn’t have to beat much here so we’re confident of his chances.
Race 2. (14:45) Tsz Wan Shan C5 Handicap (1400m)
#1 – Seize the Spirit – Bet Now
Seize the Spirit is coming off a handy third placing at Happy Valley and we’re expecting that form to hold up well.
He does rise in weight after carrying 52.5kg last start, but he’s facing an easier field. His form on this track last campaign would be good enough to win so keep him safe.
Race 3. (15:15) Piper’s Hill C4 Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Fabulous Eight – Bet Now
Looking to go back-to-back is Fabulous Eight, which scored by a half-length at Sha Tin. The Yiu-trained gelding took his time to break his maiden duck but he could kick on with it now.
He’s a son of Dream Ahead that gets the services of Joao Moreira and the inside draw is an added bonus.
Expect a good run and short odds.
Race 4. (15:45) Eagle’s Nest C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Quadruple Double – Bet Now
The four-year-old by Zoustar gets the benefit of a 4.5kg apprentice in the saddle. He’s coming off a win at Sha Tin and he could double down on that effort.
He was consistent throughout his prior campaign, which included three wins and three placings. He has hit the ground running this time in and that’s a good sign.
Race 5. (16:15) Sha Tin Heights C4 Handicap (1200m)
#10 – General Trump – Bet Now
General Trump is a consistent type that is coming off a second placing on this track. The four-year-old ran 1.8 lengths behind Gallant Legacy and that’s not the worst form guide.
Drawing barrier three should see him right in the mix and a form jockey takes the ride.
Race 6. (17:05) Sha Tin Pass C4 Handicap (1400m)
#2 – Party Genius – Bet Now
Party Genius has yet to win from four starts but the party isn’t too far away. The Douglas Whyte-trained gelding was beaten a nose two back and he went close last time out as well.
Zac Purton retains the ride and that should give punters confidence. He’s due a win and it could come on Sunday.
Race 7. (17:40) Tate’s Cairn C4 Handicap (2000m)
#1 – Gala Night – Bet Now
Gala Night is up and running this season with three wins from his last five starts. He has had plenty of racing this preparation and that bodes well for this run.
The son of Dissident scored by a head at Happy Valley last start and getting the inside draw is ideal here.
Jerry Chau takes 4.5kg off his back so consider.
Race 8. (18:10) Eagle’s Nest C3 Handicap (1200m)
#11 – Flying Sword – Bet Now
The Tony Cruz-trained gelding could score an upset, despite running ninth last start. He drops in weight to 53kg for this race and Karis Teetan takes the ride.
There’s plenty to like about his form at his best, and he could return to that. Take on trust but he’s a few dollars each-way.
Race 9. (18:40) The Lion Rock Trophy (1600m)
#8 – Beauty Legacy – Bet Now
The son of Fiorente is mixing his form but he gets Moreira in the saddle and that should enhance his chances.
He ran second at Sha Tin two starts back before finishing fifth last time out. There’s little wrong with that form and drawing barrier two with 51.5kg is ideal.
Race 10. (19:15) Hung Mui Kuk C3 Handicap (1400m)
#5 – Fantastic Show – Bet Now
Fantastic Show keeps winning after notching his fourth consecutive success. The Tsui-trained gelding won at Sha Tin by 1.3 lengths last start and there was plenty to like.
Moreira has ridden him in every start this year, which includes one placing and four wins. It’s a record that’s tough to overlook.
Expect short odds from bookmakers.
Race 11. (19:50) Amah Rock C2 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Armando – Bet Now
Armando is unbeaten in three runs in South Africa and that form could stack up well here. The three-year-old colt has a Group 3 win at Kenilworth and that came over a good field.
Betting will be a good guide to his chances and we wouldn’t be surprised if solid money came throughout the week.
