Sha Tin horse racing tips
Race 1. (15:00) Peridot C4 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Xponential – Bet Now
Douglas Whyte lines up the four-year-old gelding that has a win and a placing from four career starts. The son of Equiano won on debut at Sha Tin and returned to form last time out.
He finished third and only two lengths behind the winner, so it’s good form guide coming into the opening race on the card.
Race 2. (15:30) Jasper C3 Handicap (1650m)
#4 – Clear Choice – Bet Now
Clear Choice was good enough to win back-to-back races earlier this season and his efforts since have been solid.
The Charlie Shum-trained gelding won twice on this track and although beaten twice since, his runs have had merit.
He ran fourth last start and it bodes well for a good run.
Race 3. (16:00) Peridot C4 Handicap (1200m)
#10 – General Trump – Bet Now
He didn’t fire on this track last start but his form prior was good. The four-year-old son of Rothesay won by a half-length two starts back and anything close to that form takes him close here.
The two-time winner gets right down in the weights at 54kg and he should be able to show off his turn-of-foot.
He should run well at each-way odds.
Race 4. (16:30) Topaz C5 Handicap (1600m)
#4 – Humble Steed – Bet Now
Humble Steed took nine starts to score a win and he could kick on with it now. The six-year-old won by a nose at Happy Valley and he could run well at odds here.
Karis Teetan sticks with the son of Kodiac and his confidence should be up now. He has paid triple figure odds in all but two starts, so expect value odds.
Race 5. (17:00) Sapphire C4 Handicap (1800m)
#9 – McMunigal – Bet Now
David Hall lines up the five-year-old gelding that is coming off an impressive win at Sha Tin. The son of Epaulette won by 2.3 lengths and although rising in grade, he gets in well on the weights.
Matthew Poon rides and takes his weight down to 52.5kg. He’s going to be tough to stop from there.
Race 6. (17:35) Ruby C4 Handicap (1650m)
#4 – This One’s For You – Bet Now
He’s only a one-race winner but This One’s For You is getting close to another win. The five-year-old has placed twice since his win in January and it’s good form going forward.
The son of Lethal Force ran second at Sha Tin last start behind Megatron and it’s good to see Joao Moreira sticking with him.
He’s likely to be well-backed on race day.
Race 7. (18:05) Crystal C3 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Fantasy – Bet Now
Fantasy continues to win after posting his second consecutive win last start. The Shum-trained gelding won by two lengths in March and backed that up with a half-length win in April.
He has been patiently handled and although he has to carry 60.5kg with a lot of dead weight, he is a classy type.
Joao Moreira rides from barrier four and he should get every chance in the run.
Race 8. (18:35) Amethyst C2 Handicap (1000m)
#5 – Hong Kong Win – Bet Now
Hong Kong Win rarely runs a bad race and his record speaks for itself. The four-year-old owns three wins and six placings from 12 starts, so it’s a good start to his career.
It’s another quality ride for Moreira and that’s going to drive down his odds. However, punters should be able to get a good price.
Race 9. (19:10) Amber C1 Handicap (1400m)
#7 – Kings Shield – Bet Now
The son of Scat Daddy has three wins from 18 starts and punters should get generous odds here. He’s coming off a fourth on this track and he has improvement to come.
He has yet to win or place at Sha Tin but there could be an upset result in this race.
Race 10. (19:45) Emerald C3 Handicap (1400m)
#6 – Assimilate – Bet Now
Assimilate is a professional type that has finished in the money in 11 of his 26 starts. The Ting-trained five-year-old scored a win earlier this season before placing last start.
He’s running well this season and due to the strength of this field, he could pay a nice price with bookmakers.
