Sha Tin horse racing tips

Race 1. (1:00) Lukfook Jewellery Hexicon Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Georgian Sigma

Georgian Sigma did well to run second on debut after getting back in the field, and it was a good fresh up effort.

The three-year-old son of Shalaa ran at $12 odds, but he will be much shorter on Saturday with Purton retaining the ride.

He only needs luck from a wide draw to handle this field.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (16:30) Lukfook Jewellery Wedding Collection Handicap (1800m)

#12 – Leather Master

Leather Master could run better than expected, and he should show improvement following a moderate effort at Happy Valley.

The six-year-old son of Iffraaj is a two-time winner from 28 starts, and although he’ll be paying a decent prize, he could run better than expected.

Include him as a knockout chance.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (17:00) Lukfook Jewellery Love is Beauty Handicap (2000m)

#13 – Firefoot

Looking to cap off consecutive second placings with a win is Firefoot, who was only a nose behind the winner when last running at Sha Tin.

He followed that up with another tidy effort, and getting the inside draw with a light weight gives him every advantage.

It’s not an easy field, but he should go close.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (17:35) Lukfook Jewellery Diabling Shimmering Gold Hanidcap (1000m)

#7 – Pegas

Pegas is a former Australian runner with plenty of upside, and that could be reflected in betting markets.

The four-year-old son of Encryption won at Benalla on debut before placing at Sale, Wangaratta, and last time out at Sandown.

It’s solid enough form to see him go well on Saturday in Hong Kong.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (18:05) Lukfook Jewellery Miss Hong Kong Handicap (1400m)

#3 – Oldtown

Gunning for consecutive wins is Oldtown, who dug deep to score by a nose at Sha Tin last time out.

The four-year-old son of Territories needed some time to find his feet in Hong Kong after failing to finish on debut in February.

His form is now stacking up well, so put him on top with Purton riding.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 6. (18:40) Lukfook Jewellery Heirloom Collection Handicap (1650m)

#10 – California Star

California Star should be fitter for two starts under his belt this preparation, and punters usually get value odds.

The four-year-old son of Starspangledbanner is only a one-time winner from 10 starts, but he hasn’t been far behind some decent types.

He should get cover from the draw, and he could launch late.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (19:10) The Lukfook Jewellery Cup (1200m)

#6 – Aurora Lady

James McDonald comes to ride Aurora Lady, who is nearing another win after two good efforts this season.

The five-year-old gelding was only 1.2 lengths behind the winner at Happy Valley, and if McDonald can find cover from out wide, he should go close.

Punters should get each-way odds on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (19:45) Lukfook Jewellery Collection Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Emblazon

Emblazon hasn’t done much wrong this preparation after posting a win and placing at Sha Tin.

The four-year-old son of Zoustar won by 1.2 lengths before running second behind Pejibaye as an $8.40 chance.

Getting 1kg off his helps, so we’re happy to include him in our picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 9. (20:20) Lukfook Joaillerie Handicap (1650m)

#7 – Reliable Profit

Reliable Profit was exactly that last start when winning by 3.2 lengths, and it’s another good ride for Purton.

The seven-year-old son of Reliable Man is a four-time winner from 12 starts at Sha Tin, and he has more wins in store.

He should find cover from the draw and sprint best late.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 10. (20:55) Lukfook Jewellery Night Banquet Handicap (1600m)

#5 – Beauty Bolt

Beauty Bolt has done well in Hong Kong since coming from Europe, and he could continue his winning run.

The three-year-old son of Night of Thunder owns two wins and two placings from five starts, and it’s another premium ride for Purton.

Punters should expect shortening odds on race day.

Stake: 2 Units
