2018 Stradbroke Handicap Form Guide & Tips
Impending ($6.50) – BET NOW
Winner of the Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup last start but he’s worse off at the weights this time around.
Has the class to win again and the $6 is a fair price but we’re looking at runners carrying a little less weight on this occasion.
Santa Ana Lane ($14) – BET NOW
Scored an upset win in the Group 1 Goodwood last start at long odds of $26.
Capable sprinter on his day and he should get evey chance from a good barrier but he struggles to put two wins together and that inconsistency is a problem for punters.
Crack Me Up ($21) – BET NOW
Looked to be in good form before running 12th at Randwick last time out.
The four-year-old was 4.7 lengths behind Happy Clapper and the drop back in distance isn’t going to be ideal.
He needs time to wind up and punters should wait for a better betting opportunity.
Endless Drama ($27) – BET NOW
Good win at Randwick in February but it hasn’t impressed since.
The three-time winner from 17 starts was three lengths behind Impending last start and the bigger field will help his chances, but this seems a touch too hard.
Drawing barrier 20 isn’t going to help his chances.
Voodoo Lad ($26) – BET NOW
10-time winner which shouldn’t be underestimated and he has been primed with a recent trial at Werribee.
Punters should expect improvement after running 10th behind Santa Ana Lane in the Goodwood but this is no easier and he has seemingly lost his superior turn-of-foot.
Spieth ($20) – BET NOW
Looked much better when fifth at Doomben behind English in the Doomben 10,000 but he hasn’t won for a long time.
It’s tough to consider Spieth as a winning chance given his lengthy winning drought.
Foxplay ($34) – BET NOW
Has been given plenty of chances this season but has yet to show its best form.
Dropping in weight from 60kg to 53kg is a big bonus and jockey Michael Walker is riding in great form.
She could upset them at nice odds but improvement is needed.
Most Important ($35) – BET NOW
Finished 15 lengths behind Impending last time out and it’s simply not running well enough.
$31 should be much higher.
The Monstar ($20) – BET NOW
Received an interesting ride last start but still managed to score. Skye Bogenhuber let the field come to him at the top of the straight before pulling away late.
That came in a much easier grade and this and he finished 2.7 lengths behind Osborne Bulls prior to that. He would need to find a few lengths.
Shillelagh (Best Roughie – $18) – BET NOW
Getting better with every run this campaign and although she hasn’t faced the top opposition, conditions should suit.
The former Kiwi runner drops right down in weight to 52.5kg and after carrying 60kg last start, that’s going to be a huge relief.
Care To Think ($10) – BET NOW
Six-time winner from 14 starts which has all the potential to win at Group 1 level.
Matthew Dunn lines up the four-year-old which didn’t get everything run to suit last start and the wide draw shouldn’t be an issue.
Expect Tim Clark to drop back from the draw and flash home late.
Burning Passion ($27) – BET NOW
On-pace runner which ran at long odds in the Doomben 10000.
Will need to do work from out wide and that could be enough to see it finish well down the track.
Super Cash ($21) – BET NOW
Big run for fourth in the Goodwood and the form out of that race should stack up well for this race.
Tough draw but there should be plenty of speed in this race and Jamie Kah might settle just off the pace and strike late.
Invincible Gem ($14) – BET NOW
Would have come right into contention had she drawn a good barrier.
Kris Lees-trained runner which hasn’t won for awhile now but she has already had the talent. Her run for third behind Osborne Bulls last start was solid and if she gets the breaks in the straight, she could run them done.
Perast ($6.50) – BET NOW
Has come of age his last two runs and the three-year-old has the weight to get the job done.
The Paul Perry-trained colt loves to settle on the speed and he has the ability to kick at the top of the straight. If he gets cheap sectionals throughout the run, they might have a hard time to run him down with only 50kg and Jeff Lloyd on his back.
Champagne Cuddles (Best Bet – $4.20) – BET NOW
Champagne Cuddles has been knocking on the door of a big win and it could come here.
Bjorn Baker lines up the three-year-old filly which battled on well for third in the Kingsford-Smith Cup last start and that was a run of an improving type.
The big drop in weight is going to help immensely the inside draw is a big assist under these conditions.
Danon Liberty ($8) – BET NOW
Darren Weir lines up the Japanese import and overseas form should always be respected.
The six-year-old has won only three from 27 starts in Japan but many of his performances have come at high levels.
There’s good support and any money coming on the day is a good sign.
Osborne Bulls (Best Each Way – $8.50) – BET NOW
Seven-time winner from 10 starts and he has been patiently-handled throughout his career.
That’s unlike Godolphin to hold back their rising stars but it has proven to be a good tactic. His win at Scone last start was top drawer and only bad luck has beaten him to date.
He has a better turn-of-foot than most in this field and he’s a dangerous type.
Moss ‘N’ Dale – $34
Pecans – $51
I’m A Rippa – $41
