The Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap is one of the highlight sprint races on the Australian thoroughbred calendar.
A full field lines up at Eagle Farm this Saturday and there is plenty of value on offer. Will an experienced runner take it out? Or will one of the 3YO contingent take the honours?
We have our best 2020 Stradbroke Handicap bets.

Stradbroke Handicap Form Guide & Tips
1. Trekking ($8) Bet Now
Trekking is coming off a tidy win at Group 1 level but he has been given barrier 20 for his troubles.
He does own a good turn-of-foot, so he could settle back and storm home late. But it will be a mammoth ask.
2. Kementari ($20) Bet Now
Punters should have lost faith that Kementari will win another major race, or any race for that matter.
His mind is on other things and it would be a minor upset to see him taking out the Straddie.
3. Niccanova ($23) Bet Now
He brings in solid form but we’re not confident that he’s a winning chance from barrier 17.
It was a nice effort for second behind Victorem, but that exceeded expectations and running up to that level again isn’t easy.
$21 is a nice price from bookmakers.
4. Ranier (Best Roughie – $21) Bet Now
Drawing wide hurts his chances but there’s no denying his form returning from a spell. The Cummings-trained gelding has won back-to-back races and they have been excellent wins.
The 53kg on his back is ideal and we’re backing him in at odds.
5. Victorem ($8.50) Bet Now
Victorem was at his brilliant best when winning at Eagle Farm last start. However, he has been struggling to put two wins together.
There’s no doubting his ability and the 52.5kg helps, but we need to start seeing some consistency from him.
6. Tyzone ($16) Bet Now
Tyzone has been disappointing for some time now and we can’t explain the money coming for him.
He made good ground last start but was still over two lengths behind the winner. He promises plenty but rarely delivers now.
7. Crack Me Up ($41) Bet Now
Crack Me Up is another runner that is struggling to win races. It has been a long time between drinks and that’s unlikely to change here.
8. Vega One ($16) Bet Now
Vega One was desperately unlucky not to win fresh up but his next two runs have been well below par.
We can’t explain those performances but the ability is there and 52kg helps. Chance if everything goes his way.
9. Chief Ironside ($41) Bet Now
The Kris Lees-trained import is dropping back from the mile and he could be wanting further than 1400m.
It would be a big upset to see him winning.
10. Graff ($31) Bet Now
Add Graff to the horses that have lost their winning touch. He carried a lot of betting support when fifth last start and he now faces a much harder field.
We can’t be recommending him this time around.
11. Deep Image ($31) Bet Now
Money is coming for Deep Image following his third placing behind Victorem. It was a nice effort from the progressive type.
He is a potential Group 1 winner? Probably not, but he holds first four claims.
12. Winter Bride ($67) Bet Now
Winter Bride was unable to win in New Zealand and that doesn’t bode well for an Australian sprinting Group 1.
She’s a nice type on her day but, as the odds suggests, this won’t be her day.
13. Madam Rouge ($61) Bet Now
Her last three starts have been well below par and it’s unlikely that her form will turnaround.
51kg on the back helps but she would need every bit of luck to win.
14. Outback Barbie ($41) Bet Now
Outback Barbie has been tough to follow throughout her career but at least punters are getting value odds now.
She has yet to finish in the first three in five attempts at Eagle Farm and that’s the big worry.
15. Bam’s on Fire ($26) Bet Now
The Victorian has good form leading into this race and there have been some big bets come her way.
The supremely consistent runner owns five wins and 12 placings from 20 starts, so she rarely puts a foot wrong.
She gets the inside draw so keep her safe.
16. Dawn Passage (Best Bet – $4.80) Bet Now
Dawn Passage is flying at present and although drawing barrier 20 isn’t ideal, he does get some things in his favour.
The three-year-old colt gets in with only 50kg on his back after winning his last three starts in Sydney and Doomben. It’s good form and he deserves respect.
Look for the jockey to try find cover and enable Dawn Passage to be saved for a run.
17. Hightail ($12) Bet Now
Hightail is coming off a win in the Gold Coast Guineas and it was a nice effort. He’s a capable gelding that gets in with 50kg and has every chance to win.
The odds are generous and he’s worth a play.
18. Exhilarates (Best Each Way – $9) Bet Now
The Cummings-trained filly has competed against tough fields, but never carrying 49.5kg. It’s a big asset and she deserves to be respected.
Her run for second behind Dawn Passage was big and it bodes well for a big run on Saturday. Stick with her.
