Sunday horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:40) The Haymarket BM78 (2600m)
#5 – Rising Archie @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rising Archie comes off a win at Ballarat and he’s capable of going back-to-back on this track.
The Paul Preusker-trained four-year-old handled the wet conditions best when scoring by 4.5 lengths and it was a professional outing.
Barrier three is ideal and we’re not surprised at the odds.
Race 2. (14:15) Sam Miranda Maiden (1200m)
#4 – Miracle Day @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Miracle Day comes off a third placing at Sandown and that form stacks up well here. He was only two lengths behind Michigan and we like the way he hit the line in a recent trial.
Craig Williams is a key booking on Sunday and if he can find some cover from barrier nine, he should finish over the top of them.
Race 4. (15:25) Suez Maiden Plate (2000m)
#12 – Big Angel @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Big Angel comes off an improved effort for second at Kyneton and she could go one better on Sunday.
The three-year-old filly by Zoustar handled the rise in distance nicely and getting up to 2000m is ideal. She is a staying filly that won’t take long to breakthrough.
Barrier four is ideal and she should get out and finish strongly.
Race 5. (15:55) Porter Plant Handicap (1400m)
#1 – Camaguey @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
James Cummings lines up the two-year-old colt that scored a narrow win at Sale to exit maiden grades.
The son of Teofilo was facing tough opposition, so it was a tidy effort. It bodes well for this run and getting barrier two adds to his appeal.
$5 is an excellent price from bookmakers and we expect those odds to shorten.
Race 8. (17:25) Hygain Winners Choice BM64 (1200m)
#2 – Rose of Sebring @ $2.25 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rose of Sebring is looking to go back-to-back after scoring at Ballarat on a heavy track last time out.
The three-year-old filly scored by just under a length and it was her second career success from just five attempts.
$2.25 is a fair price from bookmakers and she looks the goods.
Race 2. (12:50) McChicken C2 Handicap (1600m)
#2 – Spilia @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old gelding is only a two-race winner from 26 starts, but he has been running well this campaign.
He is a son of Pierro that has finished in the placings 14 times and two of those have come at Dubbo, which bodes well.
His odds should firm throughout the week.
Race 3. (14:05) McFavourites Box C1 Plate (2200m)
#5 – Colville House @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Colville House is getting close to a win after posting back-to-back placings. He has yet to win from 10 starts, but his second placing at Wellington bodes well for this race.
The son of Ocean Park shouldn’t be too worried about the rise in distance and punters get each-way odds to enjoy.
Barrier 11 won’t be an issue over this distance, so put on top.
Race 5. (15:21) Happy Meal Maiden Plate (1000m)
#2 – Down To Earth @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Down To Earth drops significantly in grade after contesting tough races and the change in stable could help.
He didn’t fire in Sydney and his recent trials at Randwick have been only fair, but maiden grades at Dubbo is a different kettle of fish.
2kg comes off his back and punters should expect a better showing.
Race 7. (16:39) McNuggets C1 Handicap (1000m)
#4 – Dalavin @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Dalavin draws barrier 16 but if he can show good barrier speed, he might kick away from them.
The three-year-old gelding won by a length at Coonamble last start, where he handled the heavy conditions with ease.
$5 is worth the risk and he shouldn’t be far away.
