Sunday horse racing tips

Sale

Race 1. (13:00) Carlton Draught Maiden (1106m)

#2 – Forged @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Chris Waller lines up the three-year-old who showed nothing on debut, but we expect a much better run.

The son of Exosphere ran last at Sale on debut after showing early pace. He has been given time to recover from that run and he could come back stronger.

The betting suggests he has been working well for his return.

Race 3. (14:10) Bruce Carter Fencing Sale (1006m)

#7 – Vinlago @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Vinlago is getting close to breaking through after two second placings from six starts and this race is there for the taking.

The three-year-old son of I Am Invincible ran second at his only start at Sale, so he knows the track well enough to win.

$2 is a fair price given the strength of this field.

Race 4. (14:45) Ralcon Home C1 Handicap (1006m)

#1 – Fivefingerdiscount @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Patrick Payne lines up the five-year-old gelding that wasn’t far away from staying perfect at Sandown.

The son of Pins won on debut at Traralgon before finishing second at Sandown, so his form checks out.

There are no superstars in this field and we like his chances of winning.

Race 8. (17:20) Sale Signtorque BM64 (1206m)

#14 – Kuna Magic @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kuna Magic showed pace when winning on debut at Sapphire Coast before running at Moonee Valley.

The Clayton Douglas-trained mare finished third at The Valley before running sixth last start, but she was only 2.4 lengths behind the winner.

Getting the inside draw with Jamie Kah in the saddle should see her fighting out the finish.

Moruya

Race 2. (14:05) Mitre 10 Narooma C2 Handicap (1650m)

#2 – El Lago @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

El Lago scored consecutive wins earlier this preparation, including a win at Moruya by a length.

The three-year-old gelding followed it up with a win at Nowra before running sixth at Randwick against much harder opposition.

We liked his effort at Kembla Grange last start, so punters should keep him safe.

Race 3. (14:40) Whacker’s Photos & Picture C1 (1010m)

#4 – Galactic Warrior @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Galactic Warrior got the job done on debut at Canberra by a nose. He has since run well in two trials at Moruya, so that bodes well.

The four-year-old son of Cluster has been patiently handled by connections and after opening at $3, the odds have firmed into $2.70.

That is a solid betting move and it shouldn’t be overlooked.

Race 6. (16:35) Dalmeny IGA Narooma Plate (1010m)

#2 – Up Trumpz @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Up Trumpz is always around the mark and he owns two placings from four starts at the track.

The seven-year-old isn’t lacking experience with five wins and 22 placings. Despite never winning at this distance, he has been close on numerous occasions.

$6 is a value price from bookmakers.

Race 7. (17:15) Narooma Sporting Club Cup (1300m)

#3 – Girls Are Ready @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Seeking back-to-back wins is Girls Are Ready, who handled the heavy conditions at Canberra to score by three lengths.

The five-year-old mare capped off solid placings with the easy victory and we like her chances of repeating the dose.

We would only back her on a rain-affected track, so watch conditions on race day.
