Sunday horse racing tips

Warrnambool

Race 1. (13:20) Sungold Milk Maiden Plate (1000m)

#7 – Thunder Park @ $1.75 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Thunder Park comes off a solid debut placing at Horsham and the three-year-old could go one better this Sunday.

Trained by Paul Preusker, the son of Night of Thunder opened at $1.60 but has drifted to $1.75 since. That is expected and punters could wait to get a better price on race day.

His form reads well and the 2kg apprentice claim is a bonus.

Race 2. (13:55) Mickey Bourke’s Koroit Maiden (1400m)

#10 – Vitosha @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old mare has made a good start to her career after posting two placings from three starts.

She was only 2.1 lengths behind Zac De Boss at Warrnambool last start and Zac De Boss is a promising unbeaten galloper.

Drawing barrier two is ideal and we’re expecting her odds to shorten throughout the week.

Race 4. (15:05) The Bookworm Gallery Maiden (1200m)

#5 – Hello Handsome @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Patrick Payne lines up the three-year-old gelding that finished second at Kerang on debut. It wasn’t a strong contest, but he looks to have a nice future.

The son of Proisir has remained steady in the betting since markets opened, and we expect an odds-on quote on Sunday.

Having Billy Egan riding helps and punters should expect a top effort.

Race 6. (16:20) Gillear Lime BM58 (1700m)

#8 – Dondeska @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Dondeska hasn’t put a foot wrong this season, including a win and multiple placings. The Lindsay Smith-trained mare scored her maiden win at Stawell and followed it up with a placing.

She benefits from a 2kg claimer in the saddle and she won’t need luck from barrier four. Those factors should be enough to see her fighting out the finish.

$4 is a fair price from bookmakers and that price could firm on race day.

Race 8. (17:25) Matko Hire BM64 (1400m)

#1 – Realeza @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Realeza is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Stawell and Geelong earlier this preparation.

The Symon Wilde-trained four-year-old relished the heavy track when scoring by 1.5 lengths last start, and it was a tough effort in the sloppy conditions.

Wilde knows how to train wet-track types and he looks to have a nice one on his hands.

Coffs Harbour

Race 2. (14:00) Komatsu BM58 (1315m)

#4 – Ballybrack @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ballybrack has found a new lease on life this preparation, which includes two wins and two second placings from his last four starts.

The six-year-old owns one placing from two starts at Coffs Harbour and he handles wet tracks, so he should be competitive in this contest.

Race 4. (15:10) Insurance Advisernet Maiden Plate (1012m)

#9 – Latin Days @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Latin Days has been prepared for this run with a recent trial placing at Coffs Harbour and that has attracted attention in the markets.

The Smith-trained three-year-old produced a solid fifth placing on this track to kick off his season. It was a progressive effort and he should continue to improve.

He gets the inside draw and that could result in a winning effort.

Race 5. (15:50) Bayrange Group Maiden (1315m)

#5 – Time To Target @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The daughter of Time For War is nearing her first win after posting consecutive second placings at Coffs Harbour and Lismore.

She was 1.5 lengths behind the winner two back and that was followed by a solid effort at Lismore on a heavy track.

Handling wet tracks will be key for this race and the $3.90 is a fair price from bookies.

Race 7. (17:10) The Glenn Family BM58 (1615m)

#7 – Instruments @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Instruments turned her form around considerably with a win at Lismore fresh up, which came by a length over a solid field.

The five-year-old daughter of Pierro gets a valuable 1.5kg off her back and that can be the difference between winning and losing.

We will happily take the $5 available.
