Yarra Valley
—
Race 1. (12:50) United Petroleum Maiden (1514m)
#9 – Cassidy @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cassidy hasn’t done much to date but the three-year-old filly drops in grade and she could have instant success.
The three-year-old filly by Tivaci has been well-backed since markets opened and drawing barrier three is ideal.
It could pay to watch for late betting moves.
Race 3. (13:55) EB Earney Maiden (1209m)
#5 – All She Wrote @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
All She Wrote finished sixth on debut and she will be better for the experience on Sunday.
The Matt Laurie-trained three-year-old was scratched from racing on Thursday, so they have found a more suitable race.
After opening at $2.45, she has been heavily backed and we expect more money to come for her on the weekend.
Race 7. (16:20) Monty Millson Memorial BM58 (1968m)
#1 – High Done @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
High Done owns two wins from his last three starts, and despite carrying a big weight, he should be right around the mark.
The six-year-old son of High Chaparral owns five wins and 12 placings from 37 starts, so he’s rarely too far away.
Getting a 3kg claimer to ride is ideal and he should go well.
Race 9. (17:25) Bet365 Top Tote Plus BM64 (1009m)
#5 – Iknewshewasmine @ $9.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Jerome Hunter lines up the six-year-old mare who has enough speed to overcome this tidy field.
The daughter of Magnus is a four-time winner over the short-course distance and drawing barrier two should see her land on the speed.
Punters get lovely odds and we’re happy to back her on an each-way basis.

Cowra

Race 2. (13:15) Cowra Sprigge Memorial C3 (1375m)
#1 – The Drover @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Drover didn’t fire fresh up but he showed much better pace at Orange in two subsequent runs.
He was no match for them at Rosehill in a tough Highway Handicap race, but he’s better suited to this level of racing.
Barrier four is ideal and he should get a dream run in transit.
Race 4. (14:25) Railway Hotel Maiden (950m)
#6 – Life Well Lived @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Life Well Lived finished fourth on debut at Dubbo and the three-year-old should improve with that outing under his belt.
He was only 1.4 lengths behind the winner as a $7 chance, so it’s not surprising to see money coming for him.
Drawing barrier 11 makes it harder, but it’s not an overly strong maiden field.
Race 7. (16:16) Breakout River Cowra Japan Cup (1200m)
#1 – Bombdiggity @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Bombdiggity is a professional nine-time winner from 27 starts, including seven on a good racing surface.
The Scott Collings-trained six-year-old scored a win at Moruya two back before placing at Gilgandra last time out.
He likes to push forward and run them into the ground, so punters should be expecting similar tactics.
Race 8. (16:51) Cowra Lamb Cowra Cup (1700m)
#2 – Nieces and Nephews @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Nieces and Nephews got the job done by a nose last start and we like his chances of going back-to-back.
The son of Zariz showed plenty of toughness and with six wins and 11 placings from 31, he has plenty of ability.
Barrier 12 could make it tricky, but expect him to roll forward and be there in the finish.
