Sunday horse racing tips

Mornington

Race 2. (14:15) Catanach’s Jewellers Maiden (1500m)

#5 – Rock Wave @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Rock Wave is a three-year-old son of Nicconi who should improve with racing under her belt.

The Peter Moody-trained gelding fniished four lengths behind the winner, but he stuck on gamely after trying to lead throughout.

Most of the money has come for Rock Wave and he should go close.

Race 3. (14:50) Modtech Group Electricians Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Dimension @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Dimension is on debut for Team Freedman and there is little wrong with his trial form in Melbourne.

The three-year-old son of Dundeel owns two second placings at the trials, including one at Cranbourne, which always stacks up well.

Getting the inside draw on debut is ideal and punters get each-way odds.

Race 5. (16:08) Demi’s Second Choice Reside BM58 (1200m)

#1 – Fortune Follows @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old has plenty of experience to call on upon and he is knocking on the door after consecutive placings.

He owns three wins and seven placings, including four placings at Mornington, so his track statistics read well.

Barrier 10 is a little tricky over this distance, but it’s not a hot field and the early money is with the favourite.

Race 7. (17:15) Wilson Medic One Handicap (1000m)

#5 – Ultra Smart @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ultra Smart hasn’t won as often as we thought she would, but the seven-year-old should be considered here.

The daughter of Smart Missile owns two wins and three placings at Mornington, so she’s a track specialist.

Getting barrier three is ideal and she also has a good record at the distance, so put her on top.

Coffs Harbour

Race 2. (15:50) Key Employmen Pink Silks Cup (1215m)

#3 – Swanston @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Swanston looked good when scoring back-to-back wins at Grafton and Doomben.

The four-year-old son of Smart Missile is a six-time winner overall, so he’s classy and he loves running on rain-affected tracks.

He gets 1.5kg off his back and we’re not surprised by the money coming for him.

Race 3. (16:25) Insurance Advisernet Maiden (1315m)

#1 – Emaleah @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Emaleah owns two placings from five starts and she isn’t too far away from breaking through.

The four-year-old daughter of Headwater was only 2.8 lengths behind the winner last start and she has since been primed with a trial placing.

She has yet to race in heavy conditions, but she should handle the going if the betting is anything to go by.

Race 4. (17:00) J & K Jarvis BM58 (1315m)

#5 – Dawnburst @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Dawnburst looked the goods when winning fresh up at Port Macquarie before adding three placings to her name.

The three-year-old daughter of Real Impact couldn’t chase down the impressive winner at Newcastle last start, but that was a nice effort.

It’s a solid start to her career and we think her good form continues.

Race 5. (17:40) Bayrange Group BM58 (1315m)

#5 – Sherringford @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sherringford is looking to remain unbeaten after winning on debut at Tamworth by a half-length.

The three-year-old son of Shamus Award should have every chance off the inside draw and there has been steady money for him throughout the week.

He’s in good hands and despite rising in weight, he should handle this level of racing.
