Sunday horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:05) Clubarham Maiden (1100m)

#2 – Lascars @ $2.70 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Lascars is getting close after back-to-back second placings, including last start at Flemington against stronger opposition.

The James Cummings-trained two-year-old was only 1.3 lengths behind Giga Kick and that’s an excellent form guide.

Having Damien Oliver in the saddle helps and we expect his odds to firm.

Race 3. (13:10) Bet365 Protest Promise Maiden (1100m)

#7 – Treotto @ $5 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Treotto ran second on debut at Cranbourne before finishing fourth at Pakenham last time out.

The three-year-old son of Sooboog was only 3.7 lengths behind the winner and he didn’t have all favours in the run.

Barrier three is ideal and punters can snap up the each-way odds.

Race 5. (14:20) Carlton Draught BM64 (1600m)

#11 – Cap De Joie @ $3.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Nick Ryan lines up the three-year-old filly who looked good when winning at Bendigo last time out.

The daughter of Farhh won by 1.3 lengths and she looks like a type who could rise through the grades easily.

Barrier 14 isn’t easy to win from but having Oliver in the saddle is a bonus.

Race 6. (14:55) The Petal Factory BM58 (1100m)

#6 – Simply Venus @ $4.40 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Simply Venus is another runner coming off a win and she’s good enough to score consecutive wins.

The three-year-old daughter of Foxwedge won by 1.3 lengths and she showed good speed throughout the run.

Getting 2kg off her back is ideal and punters get each-way odds from bookmakers.

Race 2. (12:55) Roylances Tractor Replacement Maiden (1100m)

#11 – Rubi Air @ $5 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Rubi Air hasn’t been far away in four career starts, including two placings. The three-year-old ran third at Gilgandra last start, which is a good form guide.

She wasn’t far from the winner as a $2.50 favourite and punters get double the odds this time around, which is better than expected.

Dropping to 54kg is ideal and it could make the difference.

Race 3. (13:30) Shead & Nicholson Daikin Maiden (1300m)

#7 – Musical Affair @ $3.70 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Musical Affair showed her best form when running second at Wellington last time out and she’s heading in the right direction.

The two-year-old daughter of Your Song showed excellent form when running well at Canterbury and also a fifth at Randwick.

We expect the $3.70 to firm considerably on Sunday.

Race 6. (15:15) Amazing Ben Hall Bullet BM74 (1200m)

#11 – Moetta @ $3.70 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Brett Robb lines up the five-year-old mare who scored by 2.3 lengths at Gilgandra last time out.

The five-year-old mare is a four-time winner and five-time placegetter from 19 starts, so she’s never too far away from the mix.

Dropping to 52kg should see her land on the speed and kick strongly.

Race 8. (16:35) Aristocrat C2 Handicap (1100m)

#2 – Extravagant Lad @ $4 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Extravagant Lad is looking to cap off three consecutive placings with a win and he meets a field there for the taking.

The son of Xtravagant only needs a touch of luck from barrier 11 to figure in the finish and getting a senior rider helps.

The $4 could shorten over the weekend, so jump on the current odds.
