Sunday horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:20) Bendigo Mazda Handicap (1600m)
#2 – Vankukla @ $2.70 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Vankukla ran second on debut at Moe before placing at Echuca, so the two-year-old is getting close to a win.
The son of Vancouver wasn’t close to the winner last time but it was a tough maiden race and he should find this more to his liking.
His odds have drifted after opening at $2.25 but he’s still a good bet.
Race 3. (12:20) Bendigo Magazine Maiden (1400m)
#11 – Shalily @ $4.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
The Danny O’Brien-trained three-year-old comes off a second placing at Geelong in similar conditions to what she faces here.
The three-year-old daughter of Shalaa draws wide in barrier 19 but she has time to find cover and she could hit the line best.
Punters get each-way odds worth snapping up and we’re in her camp.
Race 5. (14:00) Apiam Animal Health BM64 (1100m)
#6 – My Artemis @ $2.70 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
My Artemis broke through for her maiden win at Pakenham and we fancy her chances of kicking on with it.
The three-year-old filly by Written Tycoon scored convincingly by three lengths and there has been specking for her in early betting markets.
We see her odds firming to around $2.20, so take the value available.
Race 8. (15:55) The Big Screen Company BM64 (1500m)
#7 – Copperfield @ $5.50 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
There is nothing wrong with the consistent form of Copperfield, who owns a win and three placings from four starts.
The Price/Kent-trained four-year-old comes off a second placing at Pakenham when running a nose behind the winner, so he could go one better.
The odds are attractive and we’re snapping up the value.
Race 2. (12:22) Tecnix Air Maiden (1100m)
#12 – Brudenell @ $1.95 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Brudenell is on debut following back-to-back trial wins at Gosford and he could start his career with a bang.
The two-year-old son of Russian Revolution has breeding on his side and he put two lengths on the trial field last start.
His odds have drifted from $1.85 but punters get better odds now and he’s a value runner.
Race 4. (13:42) Port City Class C2 Handicap (1500m)
#2 – Test the Waters @ $5 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Test the Waters scored a win at Gunnedah last start and the three-year-old could go back-to-back.
He is already a two-time winner from six starts and his best form has come on rain-affected tracks, so the conditions are ideal.
Despite drawing wide, punters get value odds and he should be right around the mark.
Race 6. (15:00) M & S Print Wauchope Sprint (1000m)
#4 – Toto @ $3.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Toto is a four-time winner from 15 starts and he was only a length behind the winner last time out.
The five-year-old son of Manhattan Rain owns two wins over the distance and he has handled off tracks in the past.
A firming track would be ideal but he has been well-backed and he could have the class edge.
Race 7. (15:39) Wauchope RSL Club Cup (1500m)
#2 – Eiger @ $4 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Eiger is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Scone and Inverell, so he’s the form runner of the field.
The five-year-old gelding gets all favours off the inside draw and five of his eight career wins have come on soft tracks.
Punters get generous odds and the $4 is worth taking.
