Sunday horse racing tips

Bendigo

Race 1. (12:50) Agnes Banks Equine Clinic Maiden (1100m)

#5 – It’s My Turn @ $5 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

It’s My Turn didn’t fully fire on debut but the two-year-old went well enough for third at Geelong.

The daughter of Star Turn is better for having that run and a spell under her belt, so we expect her to come back stronger.

Punters get each-way odds for the risk.

Race 3. (14:10) Gippsland Equine Hospital Maiden (1300m)

#8 – Martha Lavinia @ $3.50 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Martha Lavinia owns five placings from five starts and the three-year-old filly deserves a win.

The daughter of Toronado comes off a third placing at Mildura and she hasn’t had much luck, so that could all turn on Sunday.

We expect her odds to firm on race day, so take the $3.50 available.

Race 6. (15:45) Scenic Rim Vet Services BM64 (1600m)

#8 – Copperfield @ $2.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Copperfield is a four-year-old gelding coming off a win at Ballarat and he could double down on that effort.

The son of Per Incanto won by 1.5 lengths to break maiden grades and there was a lot of betting support on that occasion.

Punters get better odds here and they’re worth snapping up.

Race 8. (16:45) Apiam Animal Health BM64 (1300m)

#11 – Set to Prophet @ $3.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Set to Prophet didn’t handle the track on debut at Pakenham but he was much better when scoring last time out.

The Freedman-trained three-year-old won by just under a length and we like his chances of kicking on with it.

The $3.20 could firm to around $2.50, so lock in the early value.

Casterton

Race 2. (12:25) Ecycle Maiden Hurdle (3480m)

#1 – Capellani – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Capellani is searching for three consecutive wins after scoring on the flat and we like his chances of success.

The Richard Cully-trained gelding won at Moe by a nose last start in a highweight race, which should be a good form guide.

The Kiwi should be tough to beat in the maiden hurdle.

Race 3. (13:05) Shojun Concrete Hurdle (3480m)

#4 – Count Zero @ $3 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Count Zero comes off a win at the Warrnambool Carnival and that form stacks up nicely at this level.

The Symon Wilde-trained jumper got the better of a tough field last start and the Kiwi-bred is seeking three wins from his last four starts.

We’re expecting another top effort from the favourite.

Race 4. (13:45) Pullen & Co Steeplechase (3800m)

#2 – Elvison @ $2.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Elvison returned to form with a placing at Warrnambool behind Once Were Lost and he could go one better.

The eight-year-old is a past winner on the track and that always helps around Casterton. He also owns a win over the distance, so the stats read well.

His odds have drifted since markets opened but we wouldn’t be concerned about that.

Race 7. (15:25) Casterton Foodworks Cup (2000m)

#7 – Lunatic Fringe @ $2.70 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Lunatic Fringe has been a touch disappointing in two runs back from a spell but she looks ready to fire now.

The Tom Dabernig-trained mare is a four-time winner from 16 starts and she won her only start on this track by 3.3 lengths.

It’s good form and she could return to her best.
