Sunday horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:00) Pentagon Feeds Maiden Plate (1000m)
#12 – Sugartown @ $1.85 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sugartown went close at her first two career starts and the three-year-old could break through here.
The Danny O’Brien-trained filly finished second behind Vowmaster on debut and that form has been franked throughout the season.
She then finished only a nose behind the winner, so we’re not surprised at the short odds available.
Race 3. (14:05) Otway Park Maiden Plate (1400m)
#2 – Poet Warrior @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Poet Warrior is a three-year-old gelding that is getting close to scoring a win after consecutive placings.
The son of Wordsmith ran third at Mornington fresh up before finishing second at Cranbourne by a half-length.
He meets an even field but we wouldn’t be surprised to see him scoring.
Race 5. (15:15) Data Pig BM64 (2200m)
#12 – Till It’s Over @ $9.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Till It’s Over scored a win on debut at Donald before rising in grade and running well enough.
The Paul Preusker-trained three-year-old finished fourth at Sandown behind Beau Rossa before running sixth behind Ripper Rita at Caulfield.
It’s quality form for this contest and dropping in weight with the claim is ideal. Expect a big run and punters get lovely odds.
Race 6. (15:45) Apiam Animal Health BM70 (1400m)
#5 – Excelleration @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Excelleration couldn’t muster against harder opposition at Sandown last start but dropping in grade helps.
The two-time winner from four starts scored at Sandown by 2.8 lengths in March and anything close to that effort sees him scoring here.
We’re not surprised by the short odds available and he could firm on race day.
Race 8. (16:50) Western Plains Pork BM64 (1000m)
#3 – Zorro’s Dream @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zorro’s Dream comes off a nail-biting win at Bendigo and the four-year-old could kick on with it now.
He scored in a thrilling finish and he showed good muster in the straight. It was a tough win and suggested it won’t be his last this season.
Punters get value odds in the final race of the day.
Race 1. (12:55) Maiden Plate (1100m)
#7 – Maternal Gift @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old filly showed enough ability during her first preparation to warrant attention here.
She ran fifth at Wyong last start and although it was only a field of six, she was just three lengths behind the winner.
Her recent trial placing at Hawkesbury was good so put her on top.
Race 3. (14:10) C1 Handicap (1300m)
#5 – London Gal @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
London Gal has been improving with every run this preparation and her effort for second at Canberra was a tidy run.
The Matthew Dale-trained three-year-old owns a win and two placings from five starts, so she has been right around the mark throughout her career.
The inside draw is ideal and she has upside.
Race 4. (14:50) C1 Plate (2000m)
#1 – Inside Trader @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Inside Trader is only a one-race winner but he’s on the quick back-up and he should be tough to hold out.
The four-year-old son of Dundeel comes off a third placing behind My Girl Ruby at Bathurst and the track experience is a bonus.
Barrier five is ideal and we’re expecting him to be right in the finish.
Race 6. (16:08) BM58 Handicap (1100m)
#4 – Emeriz @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Brett Thompson-trained three-year-old comes off a win at Mudgee and it came by 3.8 lengths.
It was a comfortable win and although rising in grade is never easy, he looks more than capable of going back-to-back.
Barrier three is ideal and the $2.45 should firm on race day.
