Sunday horse racing tips

Ballarat

Race 1. (12:30) Bartlett Blinds Maiden (1100m)

#1 – Catalina Black Cat @ $2.45 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

The three-year-old gelding comes off a disappointing effort at Pakenham but his form prior was good enough.

He is a three-year-old son of Air Force Blue who finished second in wet conditions three back and a repeat of that effort would be good enough.

Punters get fair odds and he should be tough to beat.

Race 3. (13:40) Cressbells Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Heavenly Eagle @ $2.30 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

The three-year-old gelding owns two placings from two starts and it won’t take him long to win.

His placings have come at Sandown and that’s excellent form for this race where he faces easier opposition.

Getting the inside draw with Craig Williams riding helps.

Race 5. (14:50) Porter Plant BM70 (1600m)

#3 – Jack of It @ $3.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Jack of It owns two wins from as many starts this preparation and we’re happy to follow him in.

The Cathleen Wilson-trained four-year-old comes off a win at Geelong by 4.5 lengths and he can handle the rise in class.

Most of the early money has come for the favourite and punters get value odds.

Race 7. (16:10) Sportsbet Bet with Mates BM78 (2000m)

#1 – Taramansour @ $5 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Matthew Cumani lines up the five-year-old who is better than what his recent form suggests.

The son of Dansili didn’t beat a runner home at Sandown last start but the soft surface wasn’t up his alley.

Should conditions improve, his odds should shorten.

Mudgee

Race 1. (13:00) Gooree Wagyu Handicap (1100m)

#6 – Acappella Sun @ $5.50 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Acappella Sun comes off a second placing at Kembla Grange and she won’t take long to win a race.

The two-year-old filly handles rain-affected going and we expect big betting moves to come her way on race day.

Take the early value available.

Race 3. (14:10) Your Song at Gooree Stud Maiden (1400m)

#13 – Show Me Your Love @ $2.45 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Kris Lees lines up the three-year-old filly who ran second at Scone on debut and she’s a good chance to go one better.

The daughter of So You Think has since won a trial at Gosford and we’re encouraged to see early betting support come her way.

Barrier three is ideal and she could start as the odds-on favourite.

Race 4. (14:45) Hallowed Crown @ Twin Hills Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Eva Daniela @ $4.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Eva Daniela has rattled off three consecutive second placings and she could mature into a nice type.

The Lees-trained daughter of I Am Invincible was only 1.8 lengths behind the winner last time out and the form out of that race stacks up.

Her odds have remained rock-steady since markets opened and we’re expecting another big effort.

Race 6. (16:05) Gooree Cup (1400m)

#9 – Great Buy @ $4.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Great Buy is only a four-time winner but the five-year-old gelding should be right in the mix.

The Brett Robb-trained gelding has been heavily backed to win after running second last start and that’s a good sign.

He won at Mudgee four starts back and a repeat of that effort should see him right in the thick of the action.
