Sunday horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:35) Macquarie Toyota Maiden (1400m)
#9 – Girragulang @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Derek Piper-trained three-year-old owns three placings from three starts, so he deserves a breakthrough win.
He wasn’t far behind the winner last time out, and it’s good to see plenty of betting support come his way.
We expect him to be right in the thick of the finish.
Race 3. (13:45) Qube Logistics C2 Handicap (1600m)
#4 – Winter Moon @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Winter Moon looked good winning earlier this preparation at Warren, so form on this track is ideal.
The four-year-old son of Redoute’s Choice is about the best-bred runner on the card, and he could make that count with another win.
Punters get each-way odds worth taking.
Race 5. (14:55) Nutrien AG Solutions BM58 (1000m)
#4 – Miss Kojiki @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Money is coming for Miss Kojiki, who has rattled off five consecutive placings this preparation.
The Todd Howlett-trained mare has finished in the money in 10 of her 13 starts, including three at this distance.
Punters are getting tired of her finding one better, but keep the faith.
Race 8. (16:54) Qube Agri Cotton Cup (1600m)
#1 – Wild Rocket @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Wild Rocket scored a win at Narromine three back and she hasn’t been far away in two subsequent runs.
The five-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo was only two lengths behind Notabadidea at Coonabarabran last start, and we expect that form to stack up.
She is good enough to beat this field and the odds appeal.
Race 1. (13:15) Gorst Rural Maiden (1100m)
#3 – Patriotic King @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Patriotic King turned his form around considerably when finishnig second behind Out of Isolation at Sale last start.
The three-year-old was a $18 chance behind the red-hot favourite, so it was a good effort to beat the rest of the field.
He gets the inside draw and we wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t fighting out the finish.
Race 4. (15:00) Ama Systems BM70 (3800m)
#1 – Heberite @ $1.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Maher/Eustace-trained stayer comes off an easy win at Warrnambool and he is the testing material here.
He is a six-time winner who scored by 2.5 lengths against similar company, and the rise to 3800m won’t do his chances any harm.
Punters have to take an odds-on quote with bookmakers, but he could run them ragged.
Race 6. (16:15) Bet365 Ararat Gold Cup (2000m)
#4 – Orleans Rock @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Orleans Rock is a classy type on his day and he showed that when winning at Horsham last time out.
The six-year-old son of Rock ‘n’ Pop relished the rise in distance to score by 1.3 lengths, and he looks a good chance to repeat the dose.
He showed form in the city earlier in his career, so that bodes well.
Race 8. (17:25) Mixx FM BM64 (1100m)
#4 – McKeever @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
McKeever scored impressively on debut at Bendigo before running second at Warrnambool behind a nice type.
His effort last start at Sandown was only fair, but it came against a good field and he should find this more to his liking.
Seeing early money come for him is a good sign.
