Sunday horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:15) Bet365 Protest Promise Maiden (1600m)
#3 – Daario @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Kiwi has been knocking on the door across the Tasman and after finishing second in consecutive runs, he could break through in Australia.
He is a son of Real Impact, who faced some tough fields early in his career, and that should hold him in good stead.
It’s an interesting decision to bring him to Australia, so respect the bold move.
Race 3. (14:25) Bendigo Skin Clinic Maiden (1300m)
#1 – Foturi @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Foturi owns four placings from four starts, and although well-beaten last start, he should go well here.
The four-year-old gelding meets an even field here, but getting barrier four should see him land into the perfect spot.
$4 is a value price from bookmakers.
Race 5. (15:35) Apiam Animal Health BM70 (1100m)
#2 – Litchfield County @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The son of Sebring has made a good start to his career with two wins and three placings from six starts.
He comes off a second placing at Morphettville behind Beau Rossa, which is former that stacked up at Group 1 level.
We’re surprised he’s not shorter in betting markets, so take the $2.80.
Race 7. (16:50) Bendigo Locksmiths BM64 (1600m)
#7 – Suppression @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old finished second at Ballarat last start and he’s working his way up in distance.
He ran over 2500m in the Schweppes Derby last preparation, so running over 1600m here should be ideal second-up.
Barrier one is ideal and there has been good early betting support, which is a good sign.
Race 2. (13:55) Anderson Memorial BM58 (1400m)
#1 – Starliv @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old mare is seeking back-to-back wins after scoring at Wagga by a half-length last start.
She is a three-time winner overall, and although yet to race on this track, she should be suited by Cootamundra.
2kg comes off her back and punters have taken the early odds.
Race 3. (14:30) Heritage Motel Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Undisturbed @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Looking to cap off consecutive placings is Undisturbed, who only needs to navigate the wide draw to go close.
The four-year-old son of Anacheeva was under a length behind the winner at Corowa last start, and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely.
$5.50 is a fair price from bookmakers, so lock in the early value.
Race 5. (15:39) Cootamundra Ex-services C1 (1200m)
#3 – Glamour Runs Deep @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Matthew Dale lines up the four-year-old mare, who looked good winning at Wagga by 5.8 lengths to break maiden grades.
The daughter of Deep Field didn’t follow it up with much last start, but we’re expecting a bounce back effort against this level of opposition.
$2.05 is about where we priced her, so include.
Race 7. (16:55) Twins Hills Cootamundra Cup (1600m)
#6 – Zounique @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zounique has already won twice this preparation and we can’t overlook that form in the feature race of the day.
The five-year-old gelding scored by 1.8 lengths at Nowra last start, which came against an easier field, but it was a comfortable victory.
Barrier two is ideal and we expect money to come for him over the course of the weekend.
